    You are a bulldog!

NH Mike is a bulldog, I haven't attempted to get back into my tennis game yet, but it's an inspiration for all of us to keep on pushing. Go NHMike!

    Mike is truly an inspiration

Wish I had a fraction of your energy, Mike.  That is awesome.

Played a full hour of tennis

Played a full hour of tennis this evening including a set and won 6-0 (I have to be moving and playing well for this to happen). I was a bit tired and really sweaty as it seems to be pretty humid here this evening. It certainly felt good. I have been focusing on stretching and strength work this week and am seeing some improvements there. I've read that the radiation can make the connective tissue tight in the pelvic region and stretching helps to fight that. And I'd do the stretching, radiation or no as you lose some flexibility every week unless you actively fight it.

    Awesome

So glad that you are keeping up with that many activities.  Congratulations on the win on tennis.  That is a lot of hard work playing for a whole hour.  You'll always feel better when you get out and do something - keep up the great work.

    Any kind of workout starts

Any kind of workout starts out with a little and then a little more and a little more. I've run into lots of folks that have done C25K which is an 8-week program that takes a couch potato to running a 5K. I've seen people do this and then go on to run marathons. I've seen my mother at 80 start lifting weights. She had to stop after her heart attack in her 90s but I think that the strength-training helped her through the 80s.

We're taking some time off in

We're taking some time off in Boston (in-between the MRI, surgeon meeting next week) and my walking/running the past three days is 10+miles per day. This is what my activity levels would be like if I didn't work. I have to enjoy it while I can as it will go way down after surgery. My feet are a little sore right now too. And the activity can increase appetite.

    Testing out a mobile account

Testing out a mobile account on my phone. Tried some yoga balance poses yesterday. I will try to ramp up on these to help with recovery.

    Yup

After going out today and returned home just realized it was Friday the 13th.  Was glad that nothing happened while going out LOL.  I'm not one for the superstitions but makes you think if something just doesn't go right LOL.  Thanks for the test post

I woke up early this morning

I woke up early this morning and determined that I felt quite good. I got in 5 miles yesterday and barbell exercises. I find it hard doing more than two or three routines per day even though I want to do more. So I felt moderately hungry, somewhat sore and my head was very clear. I went to the nearby YMCA and ran a few miles and did some of the machines and it's good to have that under my belt ahead of the busy day to come (some work pileup while I was gone). They finished most of the remodeling work at the YMCA so now I feel comfortable taking showers there (place was old and dirty and no privacy or hot water for a long time). They still have some remaining work to do but it's nice to have a better place to workout nearby.

Still on target for 4 miles

Still on target for 4 miles/day this week though I have tennis today and I'm not sure I can get the other two in tonight. I am still looking for balance exercises and they're hard to find in a general way. There are lots of targeted balance exercises as in seniors, mixed-martial arts, tennis, athletes, Yoga, etc., but I didn't find anything with a variety of exercises that I could just grab. So I saved a few specific ones. While searching, I ran into some Parkour agility exercises. These are usually tiny movements done rapidly and I'll try a few of those. Parkour is the exercise or art form of running through urban areas. I also found Animalistic Exercises where you imitate animal movements. Our fitness center teacher told me that she has had her class do the Bear Crawl and said that it's a lot harder than it looks. So some fun stuff to try out between now and surgery.

    Abs training for surgery:

    Abs training for surgery:

    - Mountain climbers, Brazilian Crunch, Pushups, Side Plank (floor exercises), Bicycle Situps, Crunches

    - Ab Dolly+ (looks like a trolley with wheels)

    - Pullups, Dips

    - Gymnast L (hang from arms or elbows and form an L with upper body and legs and hold it for 40 seconds)

    - Weighted abdominal crunches with 190 pounds

    - Rotary Torso (rotate upper body against legs) with 145 pounds of resistance

    - Side Pulls (stand up with 75-pound dumbbell in one hand and lean over to the other side)

    - Deadlifts, 140-155 pounds (much less than what an athlete would be expected to do)

So I have a lot of strong muscles to provide stability for doing things but I was cut open and you can't do all of the muscles.
