Newly diagnosed. CEA is 2. MRI showed cancer. New PET/CT scan impression reads 1. no focal areas of abnormal uptake identified to suggest active neoplasm. The prior perirectal/presacral collection is no longer present. 2. Tiny presacral perirectal lymph nodes are likely reactive, however, neoplasm is difficult to entirely exclude. Continued followup warranted. Have not started treatments yet.

    Dear Friend,

Do you gave other symptoms? What prompted you to have these tests?

If you have an infection or trauma in the area the lymph nodes get active producing immune cells so their uptake of sugar is higher, so they show  on the PET scan.

Obviously you do t want to miss something serious, but also don't want to judo into some crazy treatment either.

Best thing to do in these sitiations is have an independent second opinion.

    All the best,

    Laz

    More questions...

What kind of tumor did they removed, where was it. What stage was it?

Did they suggest to follow up with chemo?
