    So sorry

this is hard to hear.  I agree with not telling your son now, you will have plenty of time after you are home.  Go and enjoy your trip.  Let cancer know that you are in charge of you and not it..  you did this once and you can do,it again.  You are strong

.  Hugs and prayers, Lou Ann

    So upsetting to hear this

YellIs it too much to ask that what we go through with frontline treatment be enough? It's all so hard, but we do it with our eye on the prize and still it often isn't enough. I hate this!!! This is so disheartening to hear, but you give us hope that you're not going to just give in to it. I sure hope you  can put this out of your mind enough to really make some great memories in Spain to be your happy place to go to when things get hard again. Where all are you going? God, I just want to give you a big hug right now and make it all better!

I've hit the reoccurence bingo big time

Well, my oncologist called me and said the ascites sample they got in the paracentesis contained cancer cells....so bingo....peritoneal metastasis!  I will discuss options with her when I return from Spain on October 4.  I've decided not to tell my son and his girfriend until after our trip.  He will have many questions that I will not be able to answer at this point so why spoil the trip for them.  My husband, of course, knows.  Any and all advice is greatly appreciated and thanks for taking this bumpy ride with me.  I'm afraid I know too much what to expect.  I'm just sad for my husband and son.

    Dang!

So sorry for you to get this news.   Glad you are still going on your trip to Spain.   Yes, I would wait until you see the doctor before discussing with your son until you have some of the answers youself.   Gather up as much information that you want prior to that meeting so you can get some direct answers from your doctor.

If you need to vent, we are here for you.

I'm so very sorry to hear

I'm so very sorry to hear this update. Try to compartmentalize it for now and deal with it when you get back from your trip. Like Helen says, "Celebrate Everything!" Make this the trip of a lifetime and enjoy the hell out of it. You have earned it. Kim

    Oh, Cheese

I've  given up trying to find the right words to say.  They all seem so inadequate.  Please know I'm thinking about you as you prepare to to tackle this beastly disease again.

    Tough. News

Tough news for sure. When people tell me how strong I am I don't always believe it. Then I remind myself that courage and strength just mean doing what you need to do even though you are scared. Go enjoy your vacation with strength and courage.

    Enjoy your trip

I'm so glad you're going on your trip with your family.  The report from the oncologist just plain stinks but this trip can be a great experience for all.  Sending hugs.  Touch base when you return and have a plan of action.

    Update

Well, I had a fabulous time in Spain!  Now back to reality. I have to play the charade yet another time today when we attend a wedding in Baltimore but I think I will go on to D.C. And tell my son on Sunday. Unfortunately I had to spill the beans to the girlfriend before the trip when she questioned me extensively but I'm confident she didn't tell him. We all had a wonderful time. I've sent my oncologist info about HIPEC clinical trials and she called me while in Spain to say we would discuss at our October 4 meeting. Just trying to be as prepared as possible for that appointment. The entire time in Spain I just kept thinking what another round of chemo would take from me but I know I have to turn that around and think what it may give me. The big question is how strong the "may" is.

Cheese, so happy to hear you

Cheese, so happy to hear you had a good trip. Now, enjoy the heck out of that wedding. Also, it sounds like your son has a good partner to support him. It just really sucks to have to deal with this again! I'm sorry that it is happening to you. I know you are going to do whatever you can to stay strong and fight this as hard as possible. We all want you to still be here, in the fight for many years to come. Sending you loads of support my friend.

    Love and Hugs,

    Cindi

I'll be thinking of you this

I'll be thinking of you this weekend. I'm sure it's going to be hard to enjoy a wedding while thinking about how to break this news to your son, but it probably won't be as hard as it was to tell your husband. Sounds like he has a keeper of a girlfriend and that he'll have her to help him through this.

Oct. 4th is coming up so fast, but I hope it brings a plan of action that brings hope and a positive sense of a way forward through this. I think we all take the setbacks here as personally as the accomplishments, so never doubt that we're all ready and willing to help in whatever way we can. For now.... ((Hugs)).

    Your next fun trip

Cheese, I'm so glad to hear that your trip to Spain went so well. Maybe you should start planning now for your next fun trip? It'll give you something concrete to focus on/look forward to while you go through treatments. Try to stay hopeful and let us know how you are doing. Sending you positive thoughts of strength and peace, Kim

    Welcome Home!

So glad to hear from you and that your trip went well. Also glad to hear your oncologist is being a little more flexible (or so it sounds) about discussing HIPEC for you. People I know who've had it had excellent results w/virtually no side effects. Please keep us posted, best always B
