Mullerian Adenosarcoma - just diagnosed
I had a D&C a couple weeks ago to take care of some polyps. Today I met with my Doc because he wanted me to come in to discuss the pathology report and he told me I have mullerian adenosarcoma. He scheduled an appointment with an oncologist for next Wednesday to discuss options, prognosis, etc.
I'm 37 years old and I'm absolutely terrified. My Mom is an oncology nurse and I sent her the pathology report. She calmed me down and said that it looks like it was caught super early and everything should be okay.
My doc said that he removed the mass and that may very well have gotten everything out as needed. The report also says that the invasion is extremely superficial and may represent tangential sectioning. I guess that is also positive.
I'm just really scared and would love to hear any experience with this type of C word.
I'll know more on Wednesday and I'm trying to stay off Google until I talk to my Oncologist (I can't believe I have an oncologist).
On top of this, I was just offered a new job in Seattle so I'm making a move from LA to Seattle next month! At least that is the plan for now.

Natasha, welcome to the board and I'm so sorry that you needed to find us. But glad you did! You will find loads of information, support and understanding here. We can all relate to that initial shock and being afraid. Waiting is the hardest part. Once you know what you are dealing with and have a plan, it does get a bit easier. I suspect your Mom is going to be a wonderful source of information and support as well. Oncology nurses are the best!
Please come back and let us know what you find out. Ask any questions. Nothing is off limits. Believe me, we have had discussions on just about everything.

Hang in there, Natasha. It is scary to hear that diagnosis but just take it a day at a time. Once you've reviewed your treatment options everything will seem a lot more controllable. I understand that there are very good cancer centers in Seattle so if you do decide to continue on with the move, it shouldn't have a detrimental effect on your prognosis. Stay hopeful! Kim

I also do not have any info no that type of cancer but wanted to say I agree with everyone else- you and your mom have got this and good for you staying OFF google for now! You are stronger than you can imagine you are and you will get through this!!! (((HUGS))) let us know how things go!

I'm really glad I found this group! I just want to know what I'm dealing with and put together a plan of action. Wednesday seems a long ways away. :-( Going to watch some good movies, take the dog to the park, and do some yoga this weekend to keep my mind occupied.

natasha, I agree with all the ladies but would add one recommendation. Ask to work with a gynecologic oncologist. They specialize in cancers of the female reproductive system. We are here for you when you have questions.

One advice, dont look up stuff on the internet. There is so much OLD stuff out there. So much has changed along with treatments, etc. There are reputable sites which are located within this site. Also, as NoTime indicated, seek out a gyne/onc. As others have said, the hard part is waiting - waiting for answers, waiting for results, waiting for phone calls. Just remember, you are still the same person that you were the day before you went for tests as you are now. The only thing different is that some doctor/report said you have cancer. Remember you are in charge. Listen to what the doctors have to say but remember you are in charge. Not all doctors agree with what types of treatment you should get. If you feel comfortable with your doctor then ok, but if not its ok to get a second or even a third opinion before you make a decision on what to do.
Great news is that the mass was removed. You may only need preventative treatment. As scary as this seems to you right now (and it is scary!), hang in there. You can do this. Stay positive.

My gyno set me up with a gyno oncologist. I meet with her on Wed. I've researched her and she's very well-known and liked in the Los Angeles area. She also has her own clinic so all treatment can be done there and she's surgeon so she would perform any surgery as well. I feel good about her which is a bit comforting - I guess. I'm numb right now and trying to live happily in denial until Wed.

Update
Just an update - I met with the gyno oncologist today and we agreed best course of action is a hysterectomy. She confirmed that this is a slow growing cancer and very rarely spreads. I'm having a PET/CT scan just to confirm all looks okay. Still have a lot of anxiety and "what if" fear but I'll feel much better once the scans come back clear, they yank that puppy out of me, and the final path comes back to confirm nothing else is amidst.
She's pushing for a surgery date within the next two weeks so I can still make my new job start date in Seattle (April 24th!). Moving 15 years of my life to Seattle to start a brand new job plus dealing with this is a lot. Onward!

that sounds like the best possible outcome for now and that your Dr is really on the ball and working with you on your timeline- that is HUGE! Will keep those good thoughts coming while you have your scan. If you are like me once you get going and have a plan moving forward things will seem better and more doable. Just remember it's one day at a time- we all can do one day right?! (((HUGS)))

PET/CT-Clean!
Just received the results from my PET/CT scan and they are clean. No spread which means no further treatment needed after my hysterectomy on the 29th. I feel so relieved - this has been a rough few weeks. Just need to get through this surgery, recover quickly, and I'm off to start a new life in Seattle. So fortunante!!
