NED

This is what my Oncologist told me this last Tues when I went in for my Rituxan maintenance. I had the PET/CT scans the week before. She told me the result were that there was no sign of any disease. What did show up was some inflamation in the sinus indicating sinuitis (I've had it for several years now) and inflamation in my left shoulder. (Two days before I had a deep tissue massage and my shoulders and neck had a lot of knots.) Then there was one prhase in the report she didn't know and had to look up.  It turns out it referred to scar tissue from the surgery for the perforated bowel. Since my last chemo was Oct 1 - 4 of 2015 I guess this would be considered the 1 year mark.  Yah-Hoo!!!!!

Just need my hair to fill in enough so I can stop wearing the caps.

    WooHoo!

Now, if that is not great news, I do not know what is! May remembrance of the cancer recede as the hair advances.

    Thank you

Thanks for all of the responses.  The lab had posted the results a week before but I wanted to wait until I had talked with my oncologist.  I know how good news makes all of us feel and it was hard to wait that week beofre sharing the results.

    Next step

My youngest feels my hair is long enough to get it "styled'. Since she will be at the house next weekend I am going to see if she wants to go with me. Either way I am thinking of changing the head gear from the caps to just a hair band carefully positioned over the area where the hair is still very thin. A coworker was telling me that is what her mom started doing when her hair began thinning out.  I am actually getting kind of excited about the idea since most of the consultants and a few employees have never seen me without the caps. So as of now the only people who are aware of this plan is my one coworker and all of you.  Now I can't change my mind!

    Great

The hair band idea sounds great Linda.  Plus, women have hat options men don't -- women can wear stylish headgear indoors that men can't. A hat accessory on women usually looks very chic.

I hope the experience is inspiring and liberating to you.

    own it

I have to laugh because our company has a list of behaviors they encourage. One of the is Own It! Now that I think about it, it is pretty much how I dealt with wearing the caps. So now it's time for a new look.

    hair

Last Saturday I went to get my hair trimmed. My hair is very fine so I tried to keep my hopes in check. I filled the woman in on what has been going on and told her I just want it to not look so raggedy. She did what she could and it does look better. However I found out that it is thin in back too. So I am going to keep wearing the caps for a couple of more months. Considering that winter is coming and it is getting colder in this area, it's probably not a bad idea to kee something on my head.
