Pancreatic Cancer and Multiple Sclerosis

My wife is dual diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (1999) and pacnreatic cancer (2013).  She underwent the Whipple procedure late August 2013 and is less than two weeks from starting treatment with GEMZAR then radiation/5FU and finally GEMZAR.  There is literally no information available from cancer resources or MS resoures on this dual diagnosis.  My wife's cancer was Stage III and the tumor was 4cm X 4cm with its widest point 2.5cm.  We still do not know if it has spread.  Would like to find other pancreatic cancer/MS patients and find out about their experience.  There is an ongoing study that reports 0.08% of the 400,000 MS patients have pancreatic cancer, that is about 320.  If the same statitics can be used as in looking at the number of pancreatic cancer patients who meet the requirements for the Whipple procedure, then my wife is 1 of about 62 people in that category.  We are going into this blind and without information.

Sorry about your wife's situation Steve

I don't have any personal experience with either MS or pancreatic cancer. I tried to do the same search you did, saw the 0.08% FDA study and not much else.

There was a recent post http://forum.pancreaticcancer.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1145&start=0 from a lady in UK (Gillyanna), but she didn't yet have Whipple. Forum moderator Dianne was talking about another MS/PC patient, so maybe you can contact her support@pancreaticcancer.org.uk

I'm also thinking that if you find one of those estimated 62 people anywhere - they would be in LDN (Low dose Naltrexone) Facebook group.

I wish you both the very best,

    Alexandra

    The Result?

Hi Steve - My Mother has had MS for 35 years and was recently diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. How did your wife make out? I am curious as to her result after having the surgery. Thanks and best wishes.
