Endometrial cancer

in Gynecological Cancers (other than ovarian and uterine) #1

I'm 41 years old. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer on Tuesday.  I go for a full hysterectomy on Thursday to remove it all, HOPEFULLY!  can anyone give me an idea what to expect ? I wish and pray for all of you to be healed and be cancer free.

    Check the uterine cancer sit also. It's very active and endometrial cancer is a type of uterine cancer. Best of luck! Is your surgery robotic. Mine was and I was just in the hospital the day of surgery and the following day. Recovery is usually fairly easy with this type of surgery. For me I felt much better after having the surgery. Part of this was also probably the two units of blood I receiveD. I was very anemic before surgery

    Thank you, I will check this website. Yes I'm very nervous myself actually because I'm anemic to because of all the blood I've been losing so I'm hoping I don't have to have to get any blood I've been trying to bring my blood cells up thw last week. I'll know more today and going for pre-op how long I'll be in and if the robotic arm is doing it. Thank you so much for responding. I appreciate it,  all this is so very surreal and scary

    I have a 4.6 mass on my left

    I have a 4.6 mass on my left ovary and I have 5 children.  4 we just adopted last year. I haven't had the the heart to tell them all yet. I am waiting to hear from the dr and hopefully have good news to tell them. For now, they just know that mommy is sick

    How did your pre-op appointment go?  Will be be getting robotic or laparoscopic surgery?

    I know it's all very scary and things are moving very fast for you.  Please do come on over to the uterine cancer board.  It is very active and there is a lot of information available not to mention women who are going through or have gone through exactly what you are having to deal with.

    If it is robotic or laparoscopic, you will probably only be in for one night, maybe two, as long as there are no complications.  Take a robe and get a pillow to hold between you and the seatbelt when you go home. It will also come in handy if you laugh or sneeze.  I walked down the block carrying my pillow with me for a few days!

    If they don't give you an abdominal binder at the hospital, ask about one.  It will help support your tummy while you are recovering.  The worst part will probably be the pains from the gas floating around.  Make sure you walk as soon as you can even if just for a short distance.  Stool softeners for a while will help while everything gets back to functioning normally.   Your bladder might be a little sensitive, especially at the end of your flow.  That's normal and should resolve itself in a few weeks.

    This was my first surgery ever and I was scared, but it turned out not to be too bad with a pretty quick recovery.  Please let us know how you are doing.

    I am sure you are worried about your family.  That is understandable.  Take care of yourself right now and let us know how it is going.
