Hey Folks,

Just checking in from the land of sun and fun in Florida.  I havent checked in a while as I have been moving and starting a new job, but I have been lurking and keeping tabs on folks.  The missus and I just moved from Nuevo Mexico to Florida and are now settling in.  Beautiful area, but i have not had much time for getting to know it due to work commitments.  I am now in the process of getting new doctors and was wondering if anyone had recommendations for kidney cancer oncologist in Central Florida (Orlando area)?  I last had scans in January and will not be due again until September.  Anyone with recommendations let me know.

Wishing all the best to the forum new members and old alike.

I am thinking of relocating to the space coast...

I am being recruited for a job and toying with it.  One thing that worries me is medical care.  Are there any RCC specialists in Central FL?

I go to the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa!

Welcome to Florida! I live in Orlando and found it worth the 60-90 minute commute to Tampa to the Urology cancer specialists over there. Dr. Sexton did my partial nephrectomy and continues with my followups but from what I hear, all of them over there are great. I saw a Urologist in Orlando and he sent me to Moffitt because he felt they could access the tumor robotically while he felt he could not! The Space Coast area has a few Urologists who do RCC/nephrectomies, but I would still take the semi-annual trips to Tampa from there (less than 2 hours).

I need more than a urologist....

I have Metastatic sarcomitoid RCC (grade 4, stage 4).  But am currently NED.  The guidelines are more agressive with followup.  I am guessing I can always take an airplane for followup care if I take the job.

    Tampa is within range.

I just went to Tampa the other day for some purchases, so for a highly quailified specialist I would think its worth the drive. Thanks for the tip Lcsvb! I am fortunate that testing is all NED so far, but I do not take my fortune of being stage I for granted.

dhs,  I will let you konw what I find out but my staging is not as agressive as yours so I see your concern to locate an expert who is specialized.
