Its Been a while.....checking in with an update

in Kidney Cancer #1

Hi guys,

I haven't posted for a number of months mainly because I find it hard to talk about it on a regular basis. But I have 3 mets in my R lung one in the Hilar lymph node and a 3.25 cm one on my small bowel. I am in the 214 checkmate trial Nivo/Ipili vs Sutent and I received the sutent arm and have had 3 cycles so far. There are a few side effects....the digestive system is taking a bit a hammering with consistent constipation which seems to get worse in the 2 week down cycle...go figure?...Which I am in the middle of right now. I have had a scan which shows a good and partial response to the tumours with a reduction in total size by just over 30%......I was stoked!!...the plan is to drop these mets in my lungs and hopefully get an op to cut out the met in my bowel. Oncologist said they would look at this if the sutent wipes out the mets in my lungs.....just when all is good they tell me my phosphate is extremely low and when I asked why they didn't get a real answer.....maybe a side effect of the sutent nbut other than that they would be guessing......anyone had a similar occurence.     Timbomba, thanks for the update, and it is good to see you are making progress. I don't have any similar experience.  Hope the lung mets continue to shrink and eventually disappear.

    I didnt have a good time on Sutent, but sounds the absolute opposite to your experience. Cancer is one crazy trip, aint it? Merry Christmas  and many happy returns.

    Hi Stomps....glad you posted mate. Yeah I'm doing pretty well results wise....SE's are pissing me off abit but hey ho..I'm here!....2nd lot of scans result wednesday so hoping for more regression....goal is 2016 for NED.....wipe these buggers out my lungs and then an op to cut out the bit in my bowel.....Have you tried Nivo yet mate...and glad to read you are winning some wars, plus a new hip replacement ?? you'll be moving like a new Trevor Brooking.
