Chemo day #27

I believe this was #27.  I am starting to loose count.  My lab and Dr's appointments were later than usually and they just put in a new computer system that went online yesterday, SO we got home after dark .  Good news was that my platelets were high enough to go ahead with chemo today, Hemoglobin was up from 8.4 to 9.3.  still anemic but better.  CT scan from last Thursday were confusing to my doctor so he took them up to a radiologist.  They decided that there was very minimal growth on the two remaining tumors and a spot on my liver that they weren't sure what it was.  We are going to keep on the Taxol, Carbo for 2-3 more times and then have another CT Scan.  My CA125 was up from 46 last week to 51 this week. My oncologist calls that stable, I find it worrisome.  Back tomorrow at 8:30 for the Carbo infusion for 7 hr.

Hugs and prayers to all, Lou Ann

    Yay!

    Lou Ann,

So glad you were able to go forward today with your chemo.

The scans were good enough to keep on the same course! Let's take that as good news for now....

I'm sending you a big hug and hope that tomorrow goes well for you.

    Love and Hugs,

    Cindi

    Great news, Lou Ann!!!  I'm

Great news, Lou Ann!!!  I'm just wondering why it takes so long for your carbo infusion?  Mine takes a half hour.  My taxotere takes an hour.  Add to that the pre-chemo steroid infusion of 15 minutes and my entire treatment (if I had a good port) would be about two hours.  I always have my blood test the day before chemo so they know before I get there if they can go through with the chemo.

Wishing you all the best of luck!!!

    Love,

Glad to hear that your blood

Glad to hear that your blood counts were good enough to get your chemo today. Hoping things go well for you tomorrow as well.

It must be tough to have two long days in a row.  I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

Not sure of the different time frames for chemo infussions.  Mine was 6-8 hours.  I had 30 minutes of permeds, steroids, then at least six hours of Taxol/ Carbo.  I would get there at 8 am and if I was lucky I would hit Houston traffic by 3-4 pm.  Guess it's what our dr.'s think our bodies can take.  Debra Jo

    chemo time

The 1st 14 rounds of Taxol/ carbo were given over 5 hrs that included the premeds.  On rounds 13 and14 I stared having reactions to the Carbo, so they dropped that and went with just the Taxol.  That didn't work at all and everything grew.  They tried 7 rounds of Doxil  small tumors shank and larger ones grew.  Since the Taxol/ Carbo combo was working, they are trying to desencitize me to the Carbo.  It is being run super slow over a 7 hr time frame, that does not include the premed so that is extra time.  Came at 8;15 today and hoping to go home by 5.  it will be another drive home in the dark.  But it does seem to be working.  I have not had a reaction yet.  Lou Ann

I'm glad to hear it's not

I'm glad to hear it's not causing any reaction if they go slow.  Maybe with me, they just dump it in??  They keep asking me if I'm feeling light headed, hot, itchy.  I have no reaction what-so-ever.  When I first started they told me 3 to 3 1/2 hours but I'm down to 2 to 2 1/2 now.  Hopefully my port will be healed - my arms look like rotten bananas right now where they tried to get the lines in.

How long can you receive chemo?

Lou Ann, I just started chemo for endometrial cancer metastatic to both lungs.  I was wondering what kind of cancer you have and how long a person can receive treatments.  Do you get breaks in between rounds of treatment?

    I have serous papillary

I have serous papillary endrometrial andocarcinoma stage 4 high grade.  After the first go around, surgery, chemo , radiation, everyone thought I had beaten the beast.  I had 7 month period of NED.but when I went in for my checkup, the cancer  Metastizised through my lymphatic system  a node in my neck, 2 spots on my liver, and a few small spots near my spine.  5 more Taxol/carbo treatments and I was given a break because My blood was in bad shape and there seemed to be no evidence of cancer.  4 months later it had matasisized to  a spot near my aorta, and several hiding between my intestines..  I have been on chemo now for the last year anda half., 1st taxol/ carbo, then Doxil, and now back to Taxol/ carbo.  My oncologist says that eventually the cancer cells will become immune to that chemo and we will have to try a different kind.   No one has told me how long Or how many treatments i can withstand.  Right now the cancer is not causing any problems and I have minnimal side effects from the chemo.  I have many more good days than bad.  I am enjoying life and my family and freinds,  I can do most eveything that I want, although sometimes I have to wait for a time when I have more energy.

     Hugs and Prayers, Lou Ann
