Anyone ever heard of kideny cancer metastasizing to the diaphragm?  My husband had this happen and was able to have the entire lesion removed and his diaphragm repaired with bio-mesh by a wonderful surgeon.  He was able to get clean margins on all sides.

I just thought his was unusual and wondered if anyone else had experience with this.

    Hello and welcome!

No, I personally have not heard of it spreading, but nothing surprises me.

Glad they seem got it all. Does he need any further treatments?

Glad too that he has YOU in his life, advocating and loving him=best medicine!

    Hugs to you both,

    Metastasize to diaphragm

    Hi,

Yes I have this. Rcc left kidney with progression into diaphragm - and mets to lungs. Have been told by surgeon than it is an extensive op which they do not want to do unless lungs are under control. Currently on checkmate 214 trial.

How did yr husband handle the op ?

    He handled the operation

He handled the operation well.  Four days in the hospital and then he was up to walking a total of two miles a day by ten days post op.

    Surgical Oncologist and

Surgical Oncologist and Regular Oncologist have been discussing treatment as there seems to be no other spread of disease.  Surgical Oncologist want to put him on Afinitor to see if this will keep the cancer from showing up somewhere else.
