Small tumour displacing calyx

I am new to the site and so grateful for all of the posts that I have read through. You are a very inspiring and caring group of people. I have Crohn's disease and had an ultrasound at the end of July that found a two cm solid tumour in my kidney. This was confirmed via CT scan at the end of August which confirmed that the tumour is consistent with RCC. The other thing that was noted in the report is that the tumour is displacing the calyx. I've tried to look up online what implication of this might have (I know googling everything will make me crazy but I can't help myself) but there is little information. Do any of you have experience with a tumour in this location? I am waiting to hear from a urologist and my PCP wasn't able to answer many questions, though is being very supportive.

    Hi Scuzymcdo, and welcome to

Hi Scuzymcdo, and welcome to our forum! Not great circumstances that brought you here, though. I am sorry for your news. The good news is that they caught it very early! Prognosis is excellent! I quickly googled about the displacing of the calyx, but didn't come up with anything. My GUESS is that it has something to do with the location of the tumour. (are you from Canada, BTW?? I see how you spell "tumour" and it made me wonder) I see that you are going to see a urologist. If possible go to a uro-oncologist that specializes in kidney cancer.

But I am sure that someone more knowledgeable will chime in here soon!

    Hugs

    Thanks for the reply

    Hi Jojo!

Thanks for the reply! I am indeed from Canada:-) Having read the various posts here I am feeling grateful for my Crohn's disease for once! The referral to the doctor was made through the local cancer centre so I am hopeful that I will be in the right hands. I will certainly keep you posted!

    Hugs to you too!

    hi Suzy,
    My partner's tumor

    hi Suzy,

My partner's tumor was displacing renal pelvis... Most important thing is that it is not infiltrating anything outside kidney, doesn't go into fat layer. The fact that it is displacing smth sounds like no big deal, as long as no further penetration.

Jojo is absolutely right - yours is caught early and prognosis is great! You should thank your lucky stars and you'll definitely be all right!
