in Gynecological Cancers (other than ovarian and uterine) #1

Hello everyone! I am now doing better. I finished treatment (iMRT) a week before Christmas. I lost a lot of weight because of my stomach problems but I have managed to regain a few kilos do far. My back still hurts and my doctor has suggested massage therapy which I am starting on Monday. I have also started vitamin C and aloe arborescens to support my immune system. I also try to rest as much as possible.

 

I would like to ask about nutrition. My doctors have always told me up eat anything I want. Especially lately the instructions were more specific : "eat anything that goes down. The more calories the better".

 

Have you changed changed your nutrition? Were you given a specific diet plan or was it up to you? Any advice would be great! Thanks :)

    Congrats on finishing your treatment!! It's wonderful to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I had horrific back pain after my chemo, radiation & surgery. When I came home after surgery I had home health & physical therapists come in. The 1st couple of weeks I had the P.T.s massage my back.  It helped alot. As for diet, I had lost alot of weight too. Drs just wanted me to eat what I could & add Boost or Ensure drinks too. Unfortunally, I don't have the under weight issue anymore, just the opposite!!

    Take your vitamins & minerals & eat what you can.

    ioana, I had IMRT as well. 

    ioana, I had IMRT as well.  Radiation continues to work for up to six weeks so the fatigue is going to continue for a bit.  My chemo dietitian told me to "push the protein".  I ate meat, cheese, yogurt, and nuts.  But everyone reacts differently to radiation and some women have had real issues on food that they can no longer eat as a result of radiation. 

    Not all doctors realize (unbelieveably) that radiation may cause digestive problems.  I don't tell you that to scare you, find out what you can eat, but you are still trying to heal.

    I had an appointment with my oncologist today. I discussed several things with him. One of these was a small node I have low in my belly. He said we'll be checking it next week. I'll be having an MRI on Wednesday, so we'll see then.

     

    I just came back from my first massage session. I love this feeling. I feel so good and relaxed that I think I can fly.. I hope things get really better and this thing in my belly is nothing important...

    MRI Done

    LaughingI here and I am dancing! I am so happy I cannot describe! My radiation oncologist came along for the test (just one floor above his office in hospital but still appreciated).

     

    When I finished the exam he jumped in the room hopping around smiling at me! The bubonic node is only scar tissue. The par aortic is so tiny it doesn't matter. I am 99% cancer free!!!!

     

    they'll have to do some work, so official results will be ready on Friday afternoon. Fingers crossed they turn out great too!!!!!

     

    I am so so excited :)
