After three months on Votrient I got my first scan today and the doc showed me all four lung mets are much smaller. Largest one is just under 2 cm after being 3.5 cm on 10/29. I am taking 400 and 600 mg on alternate days

    Votrient

Great news. So far Votrient is working for me as well. I have been handling it real good. 800mg a day. Scans are showing shrinkage. I take mine in teh morning. Since I switched to morning shrinkage seems more. Did your hair go white? Mine did. Now it's almost back to gray/brown.

I hope the Il-2 experience has helped make your response better. You'll be the new trend setter! Do well. Maybe some day we can do some pickin'. Let's say ..15-20 years from now.

    Take mine before bed

reading advice here I have been taking mine before bed. But I may switch to morning because right now I can almost count on diarrhea around 12 hours after the dose or at mid day which is not too convenient if you want to be out and about. So maybe if I take in the am that will change. Hair is getting white. Beard almost there and the first half inch of hair on my scalp is white and hair is thinning a lot. Mouth issues are much better but still a problem eating spicy stuff and whenever I eat my whole face sweats. Also my face is often flushed. My TSH was way high (25 as opposed to the 1-5 range) but he is waiting for more tests before putting me on synthroid

    Votrient

My thyroid function went hay wire. I am taking meds for that. It's at home I can't remember what it is but the levothyroxine I was taking made me spend LOTS of time in the bathroom. I take diphenoxylate for the diarerra. Can't live with out them. Little white wonder pills. 6 over the course of the day.

    Wonderful news!

So glad to hear you got some good results.  My husband is still having stomach pain which we relate to gastritis even with alternating doseage 400-600.  When the pain gets too bad, his doctor told him to stop the Votrient until the pain is gone and then slowly start back at 200.  He also deals with diarrhea and his hair is white as well.   He has been on and off Votrient now since October.  Labs look good thus far and he can work when called so we are thankful. Scheduled to return to UVA in 2 weeks for scans and then results.  Praying for good news.  He has been on and off so many times due to gastritis issues.  Not as severe as in the beginning when he was placed on 800 mg.  Way too strong, too fast.  We now have that worked out.

    Keep it up

Good luck on the scans, my results are giving me the resolve to stay with Votrient as long as it works. I do wonder if I am up to doing a bus tour of the British Isles this year which we hope to do since I retired in December.

    Britain

Make sure you get some Steak and Kidney pies! They taste of sweet revenge! The best folk music is around Whitby in Yorkshire where Martin McCarthy and the Watersons live. Actually, the best Fish and chips is there too.

    new to csn!

Hi guys im new to csn but saw the word votrient and felt i was on the right post. Im jayne 45 from the UK and i had a full left nephrectomy (open surgery) end of july last year. After finding it to be grade 3 i was put on 3 month ct scans. First scan end of nov 2014 showed mets to 3 areas and now at stage 4 grade 4. Yes i was slightly hysterical initially but was transferred straight away from urology to oncology under a RCC specialist and started on votrient that day. I have been on votrient just over 2months 800mg daily with lots of the same side effects as yourselves. After my latest 3 month scan last week im off to see my onc tomorrow for results. Im scared as this is my first scan since starting votrient so not sure what results if any to expect. Im feeling as positive as my.mind allows lol. Nice to meet you all xx

    Welcome

To the club no one wants to join. I live in America and get a lot of people asking me what treatment I would get in the UK. I tell them I dont know because I've only had cancer in the States

Cant live without them. Heard about them here. I wonder why the doc didnt prescibe them until I asked?
