Mystery Stomach Issues?

Hey, I have a random, Sherlock Holmes type investigative question.

as I've read a lot of survivors' stories on this forum, I've seen a great deal of members whose cancer was discovered incidentally after stomach problems. I count myself as one of these stories. I had a terrible stomach pain that lasted through the night into the next day; it cleared up after GI cocktail at the ER, but it led to the ultrasound that eventually saved my life. 

I just find it very interesting that so many have had stomach pains that took them to the hospital and eventually led to their kidney cancer being discovered. Last time I checked, kidneys weren't really known to cause stomach problems. But there sure are a lot of us. I wonder if anyone has heard of any research or their doctors have had any thoughts on this.

    I think in my case, it was

    I think in my case, it was completely random and non-related to my kidney cancer. As an newborn, I had stenosis of the intestine.  I had extensive abdominal surgery as a newborn in 1967 at Columbia Presbyterian Hostpital in NYC, and again four months later.  In the mid to late 1980's, I started to have episodes of bowel obstructions that the doctors could not help with.  The best anyone could tell was that it was due to scar tissue.  For the last 10-15 years or so, I managed that problem through diet until I had a severe episode in April that led to my going to the emergency room, a CT scan and surgery in July.  My tumor was only 2.9 cm.  I never thought about my digestive issues being connected to my tumor because my tumor was so small. What was a little surreal to me is that I had not had any surgeries since I was a newborn, and I had my partial open nephrectomy at Memorial Sloan Kettering.  When I looked out the window of my surgery prep room the morning of my surgery---I was looking at the hospital I was born in an had my only other surgery.  I felt like my life was flashing before my eyes.  My surgery was over in a flash, and I a better person for it.  Life is strange.  And beautiful.  I am a lucky and blessed man to have the good fortune to have a "little" misfortune in my life.

    Stomach Issues!

    Hi Jason, I have been diagnosed with kidney tumours on three separate occasions now. On each occasion they have been discovered after emergency admittance to ER with severe stomach pain. In each case I have been advised the pain was not connected, I have never agreed with that though.

    see that's what I'm talking about!! It seems to be everywhere. Call it fate or karma, or call it something else, but the fact that so many people have had this problem should ring some alarm bells somewhere... Ah, what do we know? Talking to a doctor about it is probably like asking them if they believe in Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster.

    Stomach issues

    I had nausea, occasional vomiting and terrible heartburn even after drinking water. My urologist said it wasn't caused by the RCC. My primary doc said it could be related. It was one of the reasons I went to the doc in the first place. The stomach issues magically went away after surgery. Imagine that!

    Yep stomach issues here too.......nausea, heartburn and a chance scan showed my tumour.......initially it was suspected gallstones.
