Sad news

I just read on another forum that GS Ron passed away on November 6 from kidney cancer complications.

i am shocked and saddened with this news; I had been missing his posts but thou he wanted a cancer break after learning of his cousin's impending death.

Ron was so positive and supportive and I thought getting better.

if anyone has more information, can you share it?

I didn't think that I'd ever say Rest in Peace to him but, yes, Rest in Peace, Ron, rest in peace.

Sarah

    Wow

This is news I didn't expect to read when I logged in tonight. So sad. Ron was always so upbeat and positive. I thought he was doing OK but know that he was upset about his cousin's health.

damned disease! RIP Ron, you will be missed.

Thank You For Letting Us Know Sarah!

Oh No! I can't bare to hear it, such sad news!! He was such a character and such a fighter. No matter how painful things became he never let it interfere with his enjoyment of life. He never gave up!

We all appreciated his insight and guidance, he always kept us abreast of all the latest treatments. He was like the gentle Uncle with the whacky sense of humour and a keen eye for the ladies. I am going to miss him so so  much! We all love you very much Ronnie!

Rest in Peace our dear friend!

This is very very sad news

Ron was such an inspiration with his sense of humour and positive attitude. He had such a love of life...he just retired in January.

I assumed the death of his cousin was the reason why he had been staying away from the forum.

Oh Ron, we will miss you here so much. We needed to hear your wise words, your cheeky jokes, your positive advice.

I pray that you are at peace now and joking like the naughty fellow you are with all the ladies up in heavean.

    God bless you, dear friend.

    Big hugs

    Jojo

So sad to hear that someone

So sad to hear that someone lost their battle. I new here so I'm not sure which one was Ron. Was he the one with a leather jacket on in his profile.

    Ron

Ron is the one on the motorcycle in a colored pic; you are thinking of Fox in the leather jacket.

    Shocked. Very Sad.

Ron stopped by a few months ago and met me while on a trip to attend a conference in San Diego. I knew he had some progression, but I had no idea his struggle was nearing this level. I'm very sad to hear about this. He's been so supportive and helpful and positive. What a kind soul. I'm going to miss seeing him here. I wish he had been able to let us know that his health was declining. On the other hand, I certainly understand that computers and posting would be the last thing on my mind when battling this God forsaken disease in the hospital.

I wish his soul peace. I hope there's some misunderstanding and this isn't the case.

    stunned

I was having a gut feeling. I had even intended to post a "Where are you Ron" thread today.

We used to talk alot about keeping positive attitudes and living life.  Some believe that having a positive attitude when our prognosis is grim is like being in denial. They don't understand. It is about enjoying every breath you take while you are able. Ron had the concept mastered. He raised the spirits of all he met here and I'm sure all that provided care for him since his diagnosis. Never once did he even consider the "Why me".  Even when feeling poorly, Ron was on this forum looking to help someone with advice or just to raise their spirits. I hate cancer. Keep the shiney side up my friend. RIP.

Never met the guy in person,

Never met the guy in person, but saddened nonetheless.

Always liked his ability to inject humor in any situation, and the fact that he acted as an advocate for everyone with this terrible disease.

    He will be missed.

I watched the video, and even

I watched the video, and even though I have never seen a photo of him - he was exactly as I had imagined him to be. The video exuded his personality exactly as I had expected him to be - even just to have known him only virtually. In the video you could feel his good natured personality, his kind heartedness, his goodness. I know you all will understand, as only this group would understand, the nature of our great loss. I am not ashamed to tell you that I sobbed my heart out when I read the very shocking and sad news. I had a heavy heart all day and still do, as I am sure most of you who knew him (from CSN) can relate to how I am feeling. I am sorry for rambling...I am so upset and shocked about this.

This is a reminder of how very precious life is. Hug your loved ones a little closer today - and every day after.

    Big hugs

    Jojo
