Update from Laz

Dear Friends,

I was away for a couple of weeks looking for work after more than a year of hiatus. I was going to interviews, working interviews like crazy and far away, because there is  no dentist jobs where I live. Finally I have work 4 days a week even though it's 1 hour 45 minuts away. I was excited and anxious to start at the same time. Excited because I love what I do, but anxious because of my sore hips from radiation and my colostomy. There are challenges, but doing ok. Now that things are getting back to normal I'll be back on the forum more often.

All the best,

Laz

    Wonderful

Glad that you are doing better and you have found a job.  Hip pain is a common problem with rectal cancer and I've just recently had a hip replacement.  I'm doing great though and glad that you are back on the boards.  Great to see your posts again.

    Great news!

Congratulations on the new job Laz, that's wonderful to hear! Getting a new job is always a happy event, but the emotional and mental benefits of having something in your life to focus on and give you greater purpose can be invaluable for your physical health and recovery too. Long commutes can be pretty bothersome; will you be driving or do you have a mass transit option?

Great news Laz, it's all very challenging but little by little there is some new normal and routine that comes together after adjustments are made.

    That's great!

I've owned my business for 26 years and prior to my cancer I had not had more than 10 days off in a row for that entire time! I was going stir crazy at home during chemo. I'm back now 3 days a week and really enjoying it. Try books on tape for that long car ride.

    Congrats Laz

I hope you can find a job closer to home or can relocate closer to your job. That commute must suck! As someone already mentioned, listening to a book on tape might help. I'm glad you're putting your skills to work. Hoping you can be comfortable as you help others.
