I just can't believe this. Wasn't her recurrence just a short few months ago? What a lady! I always made sure to read every word of

her posts - always intelligent and compassionate. Her absence these past weeks left me with a sinking kind of feeling but I

was in denial until today. Sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Thank you SO much for letting

Thank you SO much for letting us know Tethys41.  Jan was so wonderful with her advice and support, and I always looked forward to reading her posts.  If you have the chance to pass along any messages to her family PLEASE let them know her heart was open and giving to all the women on this board and will never be forgotten.

This is just so sad to me and I am so grateful for the opportunity to have "met" her.

Ro, like you, it has brought tears to my eyes.

I went and found her profile so we could all see her beautiful smiling face one more time.  I know God opened His arms wide to welcome this wonderful woman home. She was truly a blessing to us all.

  • Sad news!  I didn't "know"

Sad news!  I didn't "know" her well - I'm kind of new here. But I do know Jan was one of the first to respond with helpful & hopeful answers. She will be missed by many.

I am so sorry and very saddened to hear of Jan's passing.  She had a great fighting spirit and was always upbeat and encouraging.  She is the second friend this year I have lost to cancer.  During my chemo back in 2011, I met a friend that had peritoneal cancer and she was 63 and fought the disease for almost 4 years and then she passed away earlier this year.  Both of my friends were young by today's standards and passed away far too soon.

I will miss Jan as she was a friend of mine on the Board as will so many other women that knew her here on the Board as well.  I will keep Jan and her family in my thoughts and prayers.

    Cheerful

    a/k/a Jane

im just so sad since i heard this sad news. jan was my inspiration. i always read her posts. I have been feeling very hopeless. Does anyone know what happened? She was NED for 4 years. Our oncologist says the longe you stay in Ned the longer you would live. I thiught jan had a good chance to live  longer than 5 years???

    I'm also fairly new here

I didn't know Jan other than reading her postings that were and they were always so informative and supportive.  It does seem so sudden so hopefully we will learn more about what happened in time.

I feel like I got to know her from this group and I know she will be missed by many.

My deepest condolences to her friends and family.

This news has devasted me.  We had the same diagnosis and I considered her my hero.  She had survived and I thought that if she could then I could.  I am facing another round of chemo and I miss her.  I love you, Jazzy1

I was so stunned when I read this yesterday that I was unable to respond till now.  I hope her family sees this thread to know how much she has meant to so many people fighting this terrible disease.  She reached out and touched us.  She will be remembered.

Jan was extremely kind to all..

This is hard to hear, bless her for all her compassion and helpful advice. She was never afraid to get personal in order to help. So sad.

    Tears are flowing for Jan

Prayers for her family and friends. She was such a positive person and was so giving of her  own journey and treatment. I was miss her. She and I shared the same type and grade of uterine cancer just a couple of years apart. She shared a lot with me and I with her. I cannot believe that she is gone. I know that she is at peace.now.and not in any pain but it breaks my heart. Trish

    So sorry to hear this

This is my first time posting, but I've been following these discussions and reading the boards since 2010. My mom was diagnosed with endometrial cancer back in 2008 and it recurred in 2010. It's been such a journey. She passed this May and I still can't believe it. It happened so fast. When I heard about Jan, I just still can't believe it either. She was a rock! Just solid and encouraging and gave me hope in the journey with my mom. Does anyone know what happened? The reason I ask is that my mom was on Doxil and doing great...but it started to take a huge toll on her body and she turned FAST. I thought Jan was on Doxil too?

Sending lots of love, peace and comfort to her family, friends, all of you and Jan.

We seem to have become quite a family here. Some share, others listen, some have lots of words of encouragement and some have few. I didn't know Jan personally, but I feel a cancer connection to her as with the rest of you. We all must have hope and tow the line just like Jan did and appreciate each every day as they come.

    Love, your cancer sister, Tami

I have her mailing address.  Debra

    Jan's Address

    Dear Debrajo,

Am sure you remember all my posts from 2001-2013; I hope you are doing well.

Jan and I, sharing the same rare uterine tumor, emailed each other twice every week for the past three years, so I will sorely miss her.  I too was incredulous that she seemed to go so quicly after four years of NED.   (I suspect that perhaps her new regime of doxil and carboplatin killed her immune system and made her lose way too much weight; when she was finished, one of the lymph node tumors had regressed, but two more were growing LARGER and impinging on her kidney function.)

Perhaps the naturopath we were both seeing can figure out what went wrong; if I hear anything, I'll let you know.

In the meantime, if I might have Jan's address would like to write a note o deep condolence to her husband her her only child, daughter Brittany.

And please let me know how you yourself are doing.  (I will be three years out of treatment at the end of August--and as far as I know, NED and feeling well.  On the other hand, I've chosen not to scan and expose myself to so much radiation from CTs, so who really knows what's going on?  And you?

    Warmly,

Dianne  (if you want my private email, let me know via message function.)

Jan was such a fighter.  I was afraid something was wrong when she did not answer my e- mail.  She had always answered them right away.  I am just sick to hear this.  My tears are flowing.  I feel like I lost a friend.  Jan was always so positive and encouraged others.  She was always looking for alternative things to fight the cancer as well as the traditional meds.  I know she was so encouraged with the naturopath she was consulting, she ate healthy and exercised..  I know the Doxil took a tole on her body.  I am deeply saddened and  send my deepest sympathy to her husband and daughter.  Her daughter just graduated from college.  I try to find joy in each day,but it will be hard today.  At least Jan is at peace.  Another courageous warrior has lost the fight of this horrible disease.

    Ro, I Share Your Pain

Although I haven't been on the boards for nearly a year, I hope you remember me, Ro.  We had a wonderfu group of women between 2011-203 (just as wonderful NOW, I am sure) who regularly posted: ReWrter, California Girl, Hellie, Nempark, Tethys, Jan, and I among them.   What a great online community we sustained for so long  Because Jan and I had the same rare uterine cancer (carcinosarcoma), we were emailing each other about twice a week for the past year to two--so I will sorely miss her.

You are right: she was a wonderful, positive, spirited woman who has departed too soon.

Let us continue to seek the best treatments and nutritional approaches to our disease not only for our own sakes, but in memory of JAN

Hope you are doing well, Ro; am so encouraged to see you still posting here; I may rejoin CSN (once a week at least?) in the coming year.

    Warmly,

    RoseyR

    Rosey I do remember you

I have missed your posts.  I hope you do come back and post once in a while.  Newbies need to know that you are doing well.  It is so scary what is on the internet, so they need to hear from survivors.  Glad you are doing well.  I have had 2 recurrences and am working on a third.  Hope to hear Tuesday when I go to my onocologist if I am a candidate for cyber knife or surgery to remove an enlarged lymph node in my mediastinal area.

We continue to have a wonderful group of ladies posting.  They are supportive, caring, and encouraging.  They freely share information.  Hope you will rejoin us.
