I havent been on the board in awhile and I just wanted to give some support to the ones that are newly dx. I was 37 at the time of my DX in 2007. The dr told me there were "too many to count" when I asked how mant tumors were there. ST 4 colon cancer it was.... Well 14 months of chemo and 2 surgeries later(one colon and one liver resection) I am sitting here cancer free for 4 1/2 years... So newbies Dont let anyone tell you , you cant survive this ... There is ALways hope.. yes you will have your down days and days you dont want to do chemo... suck it up and get it done ... you will be ok... GIVING Up IS Not an Option....

Lisa...

    You Just came from Heaven

    Lisa,

Wow, thank you.  Your comment couldn't come at a better time.  Thank you so much.  Yesterday was a rather difficult day as my team of doctors want to do a battery of tests.  I've been diagnosed with invasive aggressive adenocarcinoma, but haven't had the necessary tests to see how far along, much less what my road ahead may be.

But after reading your post, it won't matter what they tell me.... I will do what it takes, I will beat it, and I will be here encouraging others.  Thank you Thank you Thank you.

I havent made a final choice on that yet.... Keep the faith semi colons (lol) what other choice do we have?? to die?? well thats not the choice I want so I choose to Live... hope you do too.. till our final breathLaughing

    Wow!

I am surprised that you still have your port. My Oncologist had mine out after my first clear scan.

It is nice being without it. Mind you, I may have to have another one now that they've found the liver tumour. Heres hoping I don't.

Anyway, good luck with your decision making. I hope you get it out.

What a breathe of fresh air

I've been reading the boards but haven't posted before. I'm on cycle 2 day 2 of the Folfox regime. I have stage 3b colon cancer.  I had the resection. They removed almost 5 feet of colon because I had two cancerous areas. I'm now prescribed 12 cycles of Folfox. I'm so happy to hear the success stories. Life has it's ups and downs.  It's taken me the last two months just to get used to the idea that I have cancer. I became an internet obsessed cancer information seeking geek!  I think I read every horror story. The really bad ones I read twice or more. im so happy to find this site with all the support and positive people!

    Hello Yolanda

Welcome to the forum. I am so happy that you found us, though it sounds like you heard the worst senarios first.

We are a very happy, upbeat fourm. Now and again we have to have a moan, we do lose members as they pass on, we do have our serious times, but most of all we are here for each other. Information, support, freindship, we have it all.

Why don't you start your own thread and introduce yourslef, and then others can greet you without taking over another thread.

    Blessings!

    hey

pay no attention to the "horror" stories... the first time I read my chances of living 5 years  cried for the day.... (1.8%) but that was before all the new drugs since 1998 were being taking into account... There are alot of stage 3 and 4ers that are living life... one if my cancer babes from treatment is going strong at almost 8 years.... positivity is what gets you thru ... allow for a bad moment or even a day ..just dont stay there...
