Pain after partial nephrectomy

in Kidney Cancer #1

I had a partial nephrectomy on Feb 26 of this year. At my follow up appt 2 weeks post op I was told per my MD that the pain I was experiencing was normal. Now three months later I have a dull, nagging pain in that kidney. Almost a heavy feeling. From time to time I experience a fast, sever stabbing type pain! Is this normal? Anyone else experience this?

    Ow!

    Don't know what is normal after a partial. Phred had a radical nephrectomy. If pain is increasing and it is worrying you don't muck around. See if you can get an earlier ct to relieve your anxiety. Hugs Melissa Smile

    Aches and pains

    Randa,

    All of us go thru aches and pains after a neph. I am not sure that these are less with a partial neph. Most times they are normal. Sometimes there may be complications. If in doubt discuss this with your surgeon.

    I had a partial open

    I had a partial open nephrectomy in March. I don't have any pain except some sensitivity around the incision. Have you asked your doctor about it?

    I had a partial 3/3

    I get a "ache" feeling when I've had a real physical day (running, gardening, the such).  I also do get twinges every now and then, like long needles and they can be eye opening (to say the least).  As for the heavy feeling - yes, if I sit too long then when I stand up, it feels like I have a wad of padding there.  Moving around seems to get rid of that pretty easily. 

    The incision is still acting/feleling strange too.  From as if ants are crawling all over it to itchy, to just plain tender. I refer to those days as BIDs (Bad inscision days).

    Just had my 3 month post and Dr. said that it was all normal.  But he also said that if I had any feaers or concerns - that is what they are there for.

    I am over two years past my

    I am over two years past my radical neph... still get pains all over the mid section.. part of the "program" I am told..  and with each scan I get the.. "you have issues, but they are not in your mid section.. "   Yes get it checked out to be sure.. but do not be surprized is some of the aches are permanent..  But then.. this is much better than the alternative...
