in Lymphoma (Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin) #1

We got the results from our last pet scan, but it wasnt as good as we would have liked. :( My husband has just finished his fourth cycle of ABVD, but the main mass in his chest is still 8 x 2.8 cm. I cant find what it was on the first pet scan expect for "massive, bulky anterior mediastinal lymphadenopathy, with the confluence nodal mass measuring 6.3 cm in short axis." Im assuming that the 6.3 is now the 2.8? He only has 2 cycles left and then he's on to radiation. They still seem optimistic that he will reach remission by the end of radiation. He's handling the treatments fairly well, so from the outside, we were expecting and hoping for better results. His oncologist said that this is not bad, although its not ideal. :(

    Chrisjag, I am sorry to hear that your husband's PET wasn't as good as you had hoped. But if his medical team is optimistic that is a good sign. The PET I had after my 4th chemo indicated, according to the Radiologist, "Relapse after treatment". That was extremely frightening and worrying, but my Oncologist kept me on track to complete my chemo and at the end there was no evidence of disease. I have been in remission for 1 year (as of yesterday)! 

    I'm glad your husband is handling his treatments fairly well. I don't know anyone who has handled them any better than that. Smile

    Hang in there. . .we're pulling for you.

    I know how you must be feeling.  My husband is the one with lymphoma, so I have and am running the gamut of emotions.  I agree with Roquie, the optimism on the doctor's part is a plus.  They are in a serious business, so they wouldn't just tell you that.  You sound like you are trying to stay positive, that's all you can do.  I know the anxiety is unbearable at times, but please know that you can come here anytime.  We all care about each other and I know you will find encouragement here. Please let us know how things are going and know that you always have a hearing ear.

    Thanks Rocquie and Becky. Congrats on your 1 year remission! That's so awesome! Becky, Im sorry to hear about your hubby, but I am glad they caught it early. Although I dont post on here very often, I do come here to read about you guys, get some info, and see what you guys are doing to cope with all of this. Thanks again. As I go back and read his first pet scan, I am glad that I didnt understand what most of it meant. (I still dont, but the things I am noticing are terrifying.) Ignorance is bliss!
