My sweet wife lost her battle with cancer today. She is in heaven now. No more sufferring, no more pain. I miss her so bad. There is a huge hole in my life. We were perfect together. She was my best friend and soul mate. How will I ever recover?

    I am so sorry

There really isn't much else to say. I hope her passing was easy. It broke my heart to read of her decline. I lost my husband to cancer in 2000 and received a lot of support at another web site, www widownet dot org. Everyone there has been right where you are and gets it. Several people here understand too, but many here are the patients themselves. They all care, too, and will give you much support. You just take it one minute at a time, one hour at a time, one day at a time and be easy on yourself. Allow yourself to grieve - there is no other way through it than to feel the pain and keep going forward. Being "stoic" or "stuffing it down" doesn't work. Grieve with your children, tell them it's normal to hurt and to cry and that you will all get through it together and you will be there for them. Reassure them you are not going anywhere, even when it seems like you are falling apart.

I don't post much any more. I am the mom - my daughter is still battling this evil disease. But I wanted to tell you I saw this and you have my sympathy, my empathy and my heartfelt condolences. The passing of time will help. There will be a day when you will smile remembering happy memories. It may not seem like it now, but it will come. For now, just feel the pain, let it come, write it down, talk through it, get it out and begin the process of letting the pain go.

It sounds like yours was a sweet love story.

    Remember to breathe.

Sandy has given such heartfelt advice ... I am not sure I can

add much more. My husband died this last May five years after his diagnosis ... one moment at a time.  Sincerely wishing you and your children comfort. It is an awful thing all of you have gone through. We are here and we understand.

    Peace. ~ Cynthia

    So Very Sorry

Please accept my sympathies for you and your family. I know nothing I can say will ease your pain. I also lost my husband last May. Time does not heal all wounds, but makes them more bearable.

    So sorry for your loss

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you deal with the loss of your dear one.

When grief overwhelms you, bring out the wonderful memories of your time together and let that help you to remember her in the best of times.

May you and your children find comfort from each other.

I am terribly sorry to read

I am terribly sorry to read this news.  So many good people lost to this terrible disease.  You have a long, rough road ahead of you.  Just try and get through each day and hopefully over time it will become easier.  Please feel free to send me a PM if you ever need to "talk".  I'm still dealing with my own grief and I can certainly relate to what you're going through.  Take comfort in the fact that she is at peace and no longer suffering.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

    My sincerest condolences,

    Chelsea

I am so sorry that your sweet wife has passed.

There will always be that void in your life, but your children and loved ones will surround that void and you will not fall.

Take each day as it comes. Cry a little, and don't be shocked or feel guitly when you laugh again. With 20 years of memories, happy times can be yours.

    We're here for you.

    My deepest sympathy

When I read the post title, my heart sank.  I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful wife.  You all fought hard against this terrible disease.  She is at peace now and you made sure her final days were as she would have wanted.

Stay close as a family to help get through this.

Please continue to post when you can - we are all here for support.

Rls, my heart hurts for you.

I have no words of wisdom for you on how to get through this.  The unbearable passage of time is the only help, and it is only a partial remedy, as Wolfen says.  My BIL and his son are doing very well despite everything, 9 years after my sister's death.  But it took a long time.  Slowly the sharp edges of your grief will soften, and you will be able to look back on the good years that you had with your wife.  Your kids will help with that as well, I think.  They are her memorial.

Much love to you, dear man.  You did everything you could, and were clearly a very caring and dedicated caregiver to your wife.

    no words

No words can describe what you and your family are going through. The pain, the anger and the feeling of utter loss. Just scream and cry and let it out, healing will come, the loss will be there forever.

I wish you peace and send you love and the knowledge that you are not alone, we all are here for you.

    Hugs, Marjan

    Your best friend and wife

I am so sorry to hear that your wife has died.  I know you have been on a long and painful journey with her, but she was so lucky to have you there for her. What a blessing that was! Take care of yourself and grieve at you own pace.
