What a difference

What a difference a week makes. I woke up this morning feeling on top of the world and full of energy. I think this is because I doubled my water intake a week ago as the doc thought my low blood pressure was dehydration. I feel more confident about going out and about, I feel as if a weight has been lifted. I,m hoping this feeling lasts and I,m on the road to recovery. my taste buds are back and I have a 'sort' of saliva. A pity I can't swallow yet but maybe soon after some throat tests, my appetite must be back as I crave real food after 3 months of ensure and water.

    So glad

So glad to hear this news.  Slow and steady wins the race!  Hopefully they will be able to find out about the swallowing soon.  Don't push yourself at this point, listen to your body.  Rest and drink water (or get water into yourself).

    wanting real food

I know the feeling your having with the urge to want real food,I remeber that when i finally was through with treatments i think it was around 2 to 3 weeks later watching those commercials on TV,started watching a lot of man VS food shows and quit watching the game show network.Just to smell food and saying wish I could eat that right now.

    Great News

JF - great to hear. Small steps but you are now tending on the up! The swallow will return in time and then the fun begins with working out what tastes good again.

    Feeling Jackflash good!

    JF,

Happy to hear you are having better days.  Those side effect slumps can be tough, but you are making it.

Drinking lots of water was the first thing I learned from H&N central.  For me, the best advice I tried with success.

    Keep moving forward,

    Matt

    De-Hydration..

That will get you and hit you hard...

I got slightly dehydrated once between the 1st and 2nd round of Chemo...

I didn't feel good and only wanted to sleeep, no water... The more i slept, the worse I felt, the more I slept, the worse I got...

My nurses, smacked me down, ran fluid into me..., man how great you can feel and so quickly...

Onward, Upward... you'll get there... It's a very slow process...

    Finally!! You have

turned the corner!  You got to do it all at once, which makes it more fun to appreciate it.....this "long road" and the "gradual" stuff makes it harder to get a charge out of recovery.  I always thought what a rush it would be to get all my taste or all my saliva back over night.... :)...it would give a person a chance to revel in recovery.

    Glad to hear

    Hi Jackie,

Glad you are feeling better. Just want to use your update to bang the same old drum. Only three to do to get well:

HYDRATION  - NUTRITION - PAIN MANAGEMENT

Truly, that is all there is to it. Of course, easier than done. "-)
