It's been 3 years post ..severe radiation damage. No vag. after treatment but now I am experiencing  pelvic organ prolapse. Didn't know your organs could fall out of your body if you have no vagina ! NO doctors will touch me. where do I go to correct this latest problem? Help!

Where were you treated? If I were you, I would get myself to a top rated cancer hospital. Depending where you live and what your insurance will cover, on the UCSF, MD Anderson, Sloan Kettering, Dana Farber, Mass. General.....

    Pelvic PT

I go to MSK to their Rehabilitation Department. My Doctor is a Neuropnysicologist who doesn't touch me either but he recommended me to his Physical Therapists who do wondrous things.

It takes a lot of commitment to not only show up but do the exercises they recommend and use the ointments, etc. It also takes time. This battle is a continuing one but you can get better.

I am a lot better. But I am starting another round of PT next week. I have Pelvic Lymphedema. It doesn't get better on its own but you can get a lot better.

    Good luck.

    Dear Friend,

I'm not sure what you mean exactly, but it sounds like your abdominal organs sank into your pelvis.

You have to explore other less Invasive options first like physical therapy, but I will tell you what I have gone through.

I had rectal cancer and when we were talking about the surgery all the surgeons I talked to suggested to take one of my abdominal muscles (half of the six pack), make a flap, fold it into the pelvis to fill up the space where the rectum was. This is to prevent my intestines sinking into my pelvis, plus have a better chance for the radiated wound to heal. I think the reason surgeons don't want to touch you is because they are afraid that you won't heal because of the radiation. But as I was told bringing in a healthy flap will make that possible.

I don't know the extent of your problem or if this possible at all, but this is what I had done.

    Good luck with everything.
