I've started eributux and wondering if any one on it can tell me about the side affects. In particular the rash.  Any pics available of the rash?  How long did it take for it to appear?  Did it gradually get worse?  Better?

Ive be just noticed some blemishes around my mouth and nose.  Thanks. Appreciate the feedback.

    For me

I got what looked likes zits mostly on my nose where it would be most visible of course, and then a redness from chin, cheeks to just above eyebrows along with dryness a cracked skin. It takes about a week to appear, then for me starts to go away after about four days then repeats itself after next infusion(I am every two weeks, when I was every week the rash was constant).  I have a red  face as I type.

    Same as Winter Marie, my

Same as Winter Marie, my brother got what looks like zits about a week or so after starting erbitux. He has them on his scalp, face, neck and chest. They had to put him on minocycline and a hudrocortisone creme. He uses Head and Shoulders to wash and it seems to help. Make sure whatever you use, it's mild on the skin. My friend's brother uses Aveeno body wash all over. His has gotten much better, but it's still there but very small. It's not as bad as when he first broke out. He's in the hospital now with several thoracic emboli, so I'm thinking he will be off chemo until his wound heals from the surgery. I'm not sure yet.

    Good luck!

    Hi, I'm currently taking

Hi, I'm currently taking Eribitux and Folfox and I'm dealing with the rash. I take minocycline and it helps, however I still break out 2 weeks after treatment, primary areas are upper chest and back, neck and face. It's like i'm a 16 yr old all over again.  I'm on my 10 dose of chemo and the rash seems to get a little worse after each dose.  The last few cylcles of chemo I've noticed that  my face is kind of sore as is my scalp. Several of posters have recommended Head and Shoulders shampoo to stop the scalp itching, so far it's helped. I take Tylenol ES and that helps the face sorenes.  I suspect that in another weeks time the rash will eventually go away for awhile, like it has in the past.  Yeah, it's no fun, but it's manageable...

    My lovely rash

photo DCP_9001-Copy_zps07eaf918.jpgHere is my lovely erbitux rash as of today, one day before my third weekly treatment. I have been on doxycycline since my last treatment. I have not yet found the solution to the periodic itching and pain from the rash on my face and scalp. My chest and upper back have the rash as well, but are not uncomfortable.

My brother's rash looked exactly like that. Minocycline and hydrocortisone creme helped him a lot. Also, using H&S made it easier. My friend's brother uses the Aveeno body wash on both hair and body.

Oh my. Not looking forward to

Oh my. Not looking forward to that. Maybe I should have taken hair loss instead.  I know we need to do what we need to do but had I seen the pic, I would have shaved my head.   The discomfort alone is crazy!!!

I have to say mine has never gotten that bad, this is average for me. This is today.

i also don't take the anti-biotics, I told the onc I rather save it in case I get pneumonia or something worse, scared of losing effectiveness as time goes by.

In about two weeks he was starting to look better. Don't forget, though, he was also on minocycline AND hydrocrtisone creme. I think a combination of all helped him.

    More time

I've been on doxycycline for about a week, and 1% hydrocortisone at night, but just started using the head and shoulders a couple of days ago. Hopefully a little more time will lead to improvement.

    Two things

Head and Shoulders and a cream I put on twice a day called Arbonne Intelligence not-so-basic Rejuvenating cream (I don't know if they make others so wrotw everything on the jar), it makes my face skin feel so much better after I put it on.

that's what my kids told me, "Mom, it just looks like a sunburn, quit worrying about it."

    Rash

Some say the worse the rash the better treatment is working.   Interested to know the changes in peoples CEA levels whilst on this regime.   Mine got as low as 3,3 but then I'd gotten golden staph on top lip and 3 weeks later ecoli infection.  Immune system must have been low.  Hope its the infection that caused the CEA rise.   guess I'll find out next week

    Hi Nana b

    Hi Nana b,

**** had the same looking rash but mostly on his back.  It was with him the entire time on Erbitux but he got used to it.  His nose took a hit for about 6 weeks when it got real crusty and infected but meds took care of that.  The hardest thing for him was staying out of the sun.  He was on doxycilne the entire time.

    Thinking of you.

    Aloha,

    Kathleen

    Erbitux

I've been on it for many years but currently on a break. The rash can get bad but over time it lessened for me. Use fragrance free skin products when possible, also ask about minocyclin, an antibiotic, that can help lessen the rash.

    check this resource out too.
