Doxil and Prozac

Hi All

My wife is 6 years since first diagnosis of OVCA stage 3c. She has just finished Gemzar+Carbo+Avastin (3rd chemo course) with continueation of Avastin for 3 more cycles and the CA-125 has been clibing for the last 2 month to 600. So the Docs have decided to start her on Doxil. I have found out from previous posts that some patients used Doxil + Prozac since a study showed that Prozac increases the effectiveness of the Doxil. Has anyone been taking Doxil+Prozac. All the posts about this are from 2010 and I was wondoring if it was discountinued for some reason? Does anyone has information on this?

Doxil + Prozac

Hello Barry. I have no personal experience with either drug. Hopefully someone who does will pitch in.

I did the same google search you probably did and found no new information proving or disproving original 2008 article in Jerusalem Post http://www.jpost.com/Health-and-Sci-Tech/Health/TAU-study-Prozac-can-help-fight-cancer. I don't believe this combo is an accepted mainstream treatment.

Doxil (doxorubicin liposomal) and Prozac (fluoxetine) don't have interactions. If your wife has depression (and what OVCA patient doesn't?) I don't see how adding Prozac to Doxil can hurt her.
