I've never heard of it either....

but surely something to keep in mind should someone might need it down the road.  It's still in trials, and probably not available to most folks.  Have to pass certain criteria to get into a trial....not to mention what types of cancer or cancer cells are they trying it on.

Very interesting, tho....I'm going to look it up.

They are doing trials with it at MD Anderson, and having very good luck with it....for lung, HNC, and other cancers....this really IS something to tuck into the back of our minds.

    it is interesting

Viruses have been looked at as potential ammunition against varioius cancers for decades now.  The original was BCG, clear back in the 70s.  This article is confusing.  It quotes a study that says 16% of melanomas responded.  Then it mentions another ongoing study of head and neck cancer, without response data.  Then it said something abou94% of cancers, but didn't quote a source.  This is, and has been a promising area.  But usefful results are likely still a ways off.  Thanks for sharing.

    viro

In Uk they are trying it on head and neck cancers and reckons on 18 months whether it will be on the National Health Service for free or it could be for private paying patients. We have what we call a lottery post code here it depends what your area code is whether you get certain drugs for cancer free. I live in a good area as it has all the university training hospitals  and they keep up with the state of the arts medicines.

That's kind of a scary thought...

"lottery post code" that decides who gets free cancer drugs and who does not.  Can a person move in with a friend in a good area to get a good post code for a few months?

My nephew's stepson had bladder cancer in his late 20's.  They  put TB into his bladder and that was his cure.  He is NED for 3 years now.

    free drug area code

Ha ha it would be a nice try.. but I don't think they'd be fooled by that, although saying that the Welsh have free prescriptions and the people who live in England on the border of Wales walk over to a chemist just inside of Wales and get free prescriptions. They also get free train and bus service when your a senior citizen,we get a free bus pass for local buses but not trains, we also get free prescriptions over 65. It sounds as if we are scroungers but we have paid national insurance taken at source from our wages all our working lives for these benefits. At one time (my time) you could get the benefits at 60 but they up-ed the ante because people live longer.  The new 60 is 50.
