to wait or not to wait

Hi everyone ,

First of all my prays go out to everyone.  I am 32yrs old found a pea sized lump 4 months ago, finally had time to get it checked it didnt go away and grew rapidly, had ultrasound, doctor (gyn) says its a solid mass oval shaped and has characteristics of being benign, told me to wait 6 months to re check, now thats a total of 10 months, to me thats to long, then of course told me its up to me if I want a surgeon to remove it....WTF.  I dont have any family history of bc, just my mom, aunt, and grandma had benign tumors removed.  My concern is how fast it grew, just looking for some feedback I am sick with anxiety over this.. I have a baby and a 3 yr old  so this is driving me mad!

I would get a biopsy!  You

I would get a biopsy!  You can get a core needle biopsy to see if it is bc or not.  I wouldn't wait.  At least you will know for sure then and you can stop worrying or do what you need to do if it is bc.

Keep us posted and good luck, but please do get a biopsy.

    Agree whole heartedly with

Agree whole heartedly with Nana Sue.  Get a biopsy and know for sure.  Too many changes can happen in 6 months, and I can't imagine worrying about it for that long..  Between the time my lump was discovered and when I got biopsy results a week later was too much of a wait for me.

Good luck and keep us informed.  We care.

I see your only choice is to get a biopsy.  How can you wait?  I would be totally nuts worrying.  Insist on a biopsy for peace of mind.

    Good luck,

It probably is benign but I

It probably is benign but I think you should get a biopsy too.  It is always best to know for sure so you don't have to think and worry any longer.

    thanks everyone for the feedback

Thank you everyone for the feedback,  I actually just read the report it was emailed to me it was a birad 3, and slightly hypoechoic, dont know if that changes anything, my doctor himself gave me minimal info.

Better to be safe than sorry. If they remove it and it is benign it will save you six months of anxiety. If it isnt benign, you stopped tye growth. Either way a win win if it is removed.

    I've had

i've had benign tumors since I was 20.Then they removed them within 2 days. Then biopsied.Didn't have needle biopsies at that time. Was dx with BC in 2009.First cancerous tumor. It was biospied. Then surgery was scheduled. In that time before my surgery another tumor was found just as I was being prepped for the lumpectomy. That was benign thankfully. Then the check margin surgery 3 weeks later I found a tumor days before that surgery. That tumor was removed during the check margin surgery. Then this last tumor was found during  my 2 year check up.It was biopsied and it was benign. They watch it and so far things are OK.

Don't wait.I would think any doctor would at least have a biopsy done.As I mentioned in my younger years that tumors were out in 2 days. Now the tumors are biopsied and decisions are made. Get a needle biopsy. They aren't bad. No pain but the doctor will tell you when he is taking tissue. I still have my benign tumor and it's watched every yaer now that my mammos are annually.

You said family members had benign tumors but in my family my mom, niece, me and my sister have been dx with BC.  My mom lived 60 years. After being dx at 21.My first benign tumors started when I was 20.Never missed but one check up in 42 years.I was dx at 62 after my grandson elbowed me.I knew it.That was my breast that had benign tumors for years.5 months after that blow I was dx.

Get a biopsy and let us know as soon as the results are in.Likely it's benign but the needle biopsy or a lumpectomy are the only ways to be sure.

    Don't wait...

like the others have said - Get The Biopsy !!! Even though it may turn out to be benign - at least it will give you peace of mind...I listened to my Gyno tell me that just because I was 40 - I didn't need to get a mammogram every year - even though I had a suspicious lump...4+ years later - I did have a mammogram and turned out to be cancer...
