One week post op

One week has passed (eight days to be exact) since my surgery, laparoscopic right nephrectomy. I am happy to report that aside from struggling a bit to get up from laying flat on the couch I am doing better than I ever imagined to be at this point. This was my first experience personally with surgery of any kind and as you know from reading my other thread I was more concerned about the surgery than the fact that the surgery was to remove, and God willing to cure cancer. I have been drinking plenty of water and an occasional 7up to stay hydrated and am taking walks unassisted into town daily. I am feeling optomistic that the recovery will be more to the shorter side of the doc's estimate but I am not going to do anything stupid.

I got so much good insight into what to expect from the people on this forum in addition to have fears relaxed somewhat. So many people's comments helped me through this.

Thanks especially to Michael, Iceman, Galrim, Fox, and Alice. Also to Don M. who even though he said my Reds sucked posted helpful comments. And I can't forget Gary, who not only helped but posted some pretty darn good jokes.

Thank you each and every one.

Dan

PS. I am not going anywhere just because the surgery is over. I plan on being here a long time to say hello, get advice, or to help others any way I can.

God bless you all.

Not saying DonM is wrong about the Reds, but

That's great news Dan! I had every confidence in you!  Keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward.

I'm trying to get Icemantoo and anyone else who wants to join us next June for a round of Roller Coasters at Cedar Point!  You game?

    Hi Dan,

I am glad to hear you are doing well, it is a slow process the first few weeks. Patience is definitely a virtue at that point.

You have a good positive attitude though and that can only serve to speed your recovery. Just keep looking forward you have a lot to look forward to.

    All the best:-)

    Keep up the good job...

...youre already doing. Your attitude and mental approach to all you have endured shows that you will overcome this obstacle and any ahead. Keep moving forward Dan :-)
