Update on First IDC now SCC

I went to UIC today, I go for a CT scan on Tuesday and then go  back on March 16 to see my Dr/Surgeon and a rad onco.  My doc is hoping to be able to try just radiation due to the fact that surgery on my entire chin and lower lip could be disfiguring.  Of course this depends on what the CT scan shows...I am not getting my hopes up about no surgery but at least its a possibility:)  She is highly regarded for her work/surgery with cancer of the head and neck and yet mine has thrown her for a loop.  She took pictures of my chin and  lower lip and said she would research it until she can tell me I am not alone.

They seem to think that my IDC which I just finished chemo for three months ago might have played a role in it some how.  I know so many of you have faced and are going through radiation and from what I have read on here, oh boy, I hope I can get through it.  You are all very inspiring:)

    Patti,

It sounds like your doctor is being very sure for your treatment, that is good for you.

As I sit here, finishing off some Peanut M&M’s I think you will do fine with rads.  My taste buds and saliva are mediocre, but every day it is better.

Good luck, good scans, smooth sailing,

    Matt

Girl...you've paid your dues! I'm so hoping the CT shows that rads alone will take care of the SCC.
Please keep us posted and you will be in my prayers.

    Thanks debbiejeanne:) IDC is

Thanks debbiejeanne:) IDC is Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, in short breast cancer.  I had bilateral, both breasts with one metastic node.  Finished chemo for that on this past Dec 10, and the SCC showed up two weeks later.  It wasn't diagnosed until March 21.

Thanks Billie!  I will and I so appreciate all the support and prayers:)

    God bless,
