Bye Bye Port.....

This morning was my port removal surgery...  It took longer to get me ready than it did to do the removal.  I am so happy to have it out.  Now I don't have to look at it anymore.   Not that I will ever forget what I went through last year but at least now I will not have the constant reminder every time I  get dressed.  It will be so nice to wear tank tops this summer and not have to worry about if that is covered or not.  I do not care about the scar and once it is all healed I will put vitamin E oil on the scar.  My Onc told me to use it on my hysterectomy scar after it was all healed and it worked like  a charm.  If it doesn't go away that is no big deal.  Scars are nothing but I felt like that port screamed out "Hey look at me I had cancer".  lol

    Hi Eileen

Glad that the port removal process went easily for you.  I had mine removed in January and like you, the prep took longer than the actual removal, which was maybe 10 minutes at most.  I don't care about the scars either.  I see them as my badges of honor and courage!  Shopping, here I come!
