    Excellent...

Remember, walking and water, both help speed the recovery process along.  You'll be your ole self before you know it.

i got my self ready for this

i got my self ready for this surgery, One thing that everyone needs to do is stretch, stretch and stretch, No one here told me this, Did Yoga moves for 2 months before surgery, It does hurt, but you can deal with the pain.   Pain meds help,a lot, I was walking 3 hours after surgery, Not very well but walking,

I like your plan. And once healed for a month or two, I think it is a real key for returning to the point where you can become painless, mobile and active.

I am 6 weeks post op

I am 6 weeks post op    struggling with several things....1st i feel like there is someone pulling a tight belt around top of my stomach, and as if there is something down my entire left side.   I struggle with eating, literally force myself to eat some days ( i am diabetic, this has been a struggle for me to keep my sugar to a normal level)  and zero energy.   all of my blood work comes back great, and dr is very pleased...as he put it" its gonna take time, your body took a big whack"  LOL.  I just want to feel human again.   So thankful for my wonderful husband and family and friends who have helped me out over the past 6 weeks, and yes I do feel better every day...but never expected it to take this long.  I have had several surgeries, had a hysterectomy just 4 months ago,  and bounced back way quicker than this.

You have reached the point in your recovery where you feel you have had enough. It seems simple and stupid to say. But it is going to take quite awhile longer. This is where you need to stay active but you don't over do it. None of your bodies memories include what you just went through. It knows things aren't right. With time, you get experience. With experience, you get new body  memories. That becomes the new normal. Your body learns that this is the new you.  You will never be the same you were. So do things the best you can. With more time, everything is good.

In my 35 years as a physical therapist, I have worked with 10s of thousands of patients. My attitude is loose. I make jokes out of misfortune. I redirect peoples attitudes and motivation. One of the things I entertain myself with is meeting a new client and when hearing complaints and issues like yours, I stop them and act like a gypsy fortune teller. I tell them what they are feeling and going thru. I tell them of their frustration and how they feel enough is enough. They just want to be better yesterday. Your feelings are completely normal and common. Takes time. Time happens.

    Normal

Camel,  Those little aches and pains 3days after surgery sound normal to me. Those first 10 days are really tough to get around. Been there, done that. Part of the initiation. Things do get better each day.

    Surgery Belt

You will be sore for a few weeks.  Give yourself lots of relaxation time to recover physically and emotionally.  Do not take short cuts and do not push yourself too hard.  Now is the great opportunity to rent silly movies and read trashy novels you always waited for!

One technical tip.  Wear an elastic surgery belt during waking hours all day and for as long as you can tolerate it, but for at least a year.  It prevents herniation of abdominal muscles.

Eat a lot of high quality ice cream!

    Partial nephrectomy

I am 8 days post op, I had robotic surgery this time. I had surgery in Dallas 10 years ago, it was radio frequency but unfortunately the tumor returned. I had a very easy recovery last time, but this time I am having several issues. I have had surgery on my right kidney but have a strange pressure pain stretching right across the underside of both ribs. It feels rather like a balloon is being constantly inflated. I often feel it is difficult to breath although my lungs are clear. Sitting is very uncomfortable so I lay down or stand.

I live in France now, and as instructed in the USA last time, I was up on the 3 day doing some gentle walking trying to build up gradually, and drinking plenty. I just find this pain disconcerting as it started when I returned home and is not easing up. I know it is early days but unlike in the States, I received no after care advise giving an indication of what to expect.

    Aches and pains

    d,

Those first couple of weeks are going to be tough no matter where you are. Could be a little gas. If it persits seek help from your doctor. Each day should get a little better.

    Good job Camel

Now continue to do well and meet your optism with good health. But don't take recommendations that say there is no follow up needed. That will become the most important part for your future.

    Doctor told me already  will

Doctor told me already  will do cat scan once a year, two chest X-Rays a year, and blood work.

    Monitoring

The odds are very good that they'll never find anything but it's essential to check for a while.
