I have a friend doing the nipple portion of reconstruction soon.  I want to send her a fun, creative, thoughtful gift to celebrate.  Any ideas?

Hallmark is of no help here!

Wow, now there's something Hallmark doesn't make any cards for....a new market for them, perhaps:

    • "Get well soon -- can't wait till your nipples are up and about again!"
    • "Roses are red, violets are blue, puppy noses are perky, soon yours will be too!"

...I'm sorry, I know this isn't the kind of advice you're asking for, and I don't have any real suggestions....but I just couldn't resist!  The things we have to go through on this journey are sometimes just so absurd, and you're a good friend for sticking by your friend through everything, because nipple reconstruction isn't exactly the kind of topic you can talk about with just anyone!

Love the Edible Arrangement Idea... and the Original Cards

The Edible Arrangement is brilliant... especially because dipped fruit can look a little nipply if you think about it.  Someone also told me that I should find my friend something tasseled.

On the greeting card front, I see this as a whole new market.  My mastectomy was nipple-sparing, and there could be a whole other set of cards about dealing with anxieties about that.  Not to mention celebratory cards for drain removal...

You can start a new line of cards for bc survivors!  That would be hilarious.

Omigod, M -- you've either just ruined my next birthday, or made it 10 times more hilarious!

I have an elderly friend who likes to send me those chocolate-dipped Edible Arrangements for holidays....I'm never going to be able to look at them the same way again!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go email my resume to Hallmark, to create their new line of greeting cards: "Hope Your Mastectomy Recovery Isn't Too Draining," "Spare The Nipple and Spoil The Patient"...I got more, I'm sure!
