South East Coast Meets North West Coast ~ Skiffin16 - Hawk711 Shoot Out...

Met up with one of my old time buds and CSN Warrior Steve ~ Hawk711 yesterday on his turf, or near it... San Rafael...

WOW, it has been a long time since I've been to the  San Fran Bay Area..., never really that far north of SF either. Such a beautiful place..., being an artist I would love to have a place like this for inspiration and reference... I even saw a bunch of wild turky after our meet Steve...and not the drinking kind, LOL.

Steve you have a wonderful playground..., but of course I'd have to learn to fish west coast fish, LOL...

Anyways the meet and greet was awesome.., it seemd as if we have known each other for years..., Oh wait, we have, LOL...

Sipped some Starbucks, swapped stories, told a few jokes...., it was a great time...

Steve, when you get down to Florida look me up, and if you have a day, I'd be thrilled to put you on some Florida fish... and if they aren't participating, just a day on the water with an old friend...

Best ~ John

I still say we need to have a REUNION of sorts.....somewhere maybe in the middle of the U.S.

    someplace warm, right Phrannie ???

or we could go to Tim's hotel....if you like the cold and snow.

    Could you imagine?

It definitely would be awesome to meet the folks that have been so supportive. Then I thought about what a gathering of H&N'ers might be like. All of us in varying stages of diagnosis, treatment and recovery.

Let's see.... what about food?  A buffet would definitely be in order.

    A jello bar for sure!
A cooler full of Ensure, Boost and other pre mixed supplement drinks
A solid and soft food buffet featuring a Vitamix for pureeing
A smoothie bar and various fruits, proteins and supplements (glutamine, vitamins etc.)
Several IV hydration booths with festively decorated saline bags
An open bar for alchoholic beverages for those who care to indulge, complete with special PEG fittings (just for you George) ;)~
Last but not least, a doctor and pharmacist on hand and a full selection of pain killers for those who need them.

Yeah I know... what can I say? I have a warped sense of humor  ~lol~

    "T"

PS...A Halloween party would be easy... we could just wear our masks from our rad treatments!

I am picturing all of us trying to get thru airport security carrying our masks.....what a sight that would be.

Loving the smoothie, Ensure, jello bar idea.

    Nice time nice adventure.

P51, he did mention it and a few others chimed in to crash their party.

Is the wedding over or is it on for this weekend (just incase other H&N members get any ideas)

I too have (crazy) stories of that area.

    Okay...my town it is ...

Laughing McCall, Idaho .....we are in the process of getting 7-12 inches of snow (as I look out my winter wonderland window in the living room) ....but I tell you what, you all would love it here in the summer.

I have said it before on this site, but I will say it again..if EVER any H&N Warrior passes thru, you always have a room and a cup of coffee or tea on me.  I finally met in person ONE H&N Warrior (Eric Statler) just a few weeks ago...it was really nice to meet another comrade (sp).

Check out our little slice of heaven

    Zoom Zoom...

Musta slid by you P..., I mentioned it before...

Would have loved to meet Billie and her man, a few others close by also... I thought Lara was close by, but Steve said she moved down in Billies neighborhood.

It's cold as the dickens here with the wind at times, LOL... I'm a spoiled cracker.

Beautiful country though, I'll post up a few photos when I get a chance...

My son and his woman have had me busy helping get theri wedding place ready... It's a 100 year old boat launch barn kinda thing... really rustic and full of old marine related items...

    Enjoy that wedding!

    John,

You two enjoy that wedding.. a nautical theme is great. (We got married on the beach). Our photo is from my son's wedding in October, they found a 1920's theatre completely still in it's glory.. we all had a great time. But there is nothing like seeing your own son take that big step.

Best wishes to the happy couple!

    Not Intentionally...

Did you tell me you were in the area..., if so, I'm sorry I wouldn't intentionally ditch you.

I'm sitting at SFO waiting for my flight that got bumped to 5:00PM, lol... I'm thirsty...LOL.

Maybe next time when I'm back through or you to Florida..

    Thanks...

I'll post up a few photos when I get a chance...

I took a ton as I plan on doing a nice painting for them of the Launch for Hire Building, and some color pencil sketches of surrounding land marks.

Speaking of sketchs... I'll have to post one up of me.. My son did 85 small pencil portraits and framed the for each person that responded to the RSVP... pretty awesome accomplishment.

    Do you ski?

Tim ... I looked at the Brundage Mountain ski video in your link for the McCall Chamber of Commerce.  Wow! Awesome!  Do you ski?  My son who completed rad/chemo for throat cancer in Sept. 2012 was motivated to regain his physical fitness because he wanted passionately to be well enough to ski this winter.  He  skiis at Magic Mountain in southeast Vermont where he bought a season pass before he was diagnosed...so that is now the only place he can afford to ski... but at least he has been able to be out on the slopes doing what he loves and feeling more alive again even though the snow conditions have not been very good this winter at Magic Mountain. They had a January thaw with warm inversion in the mountains and heavy rain on top of 50 degree temps that melted the snow base on the ski slopes in that area of Vermont.  There has been a moderate amount of natural snow since then along with artificial snow making but not enough to make up for the melt off.  My son is an excellent skiier and I hope someday that he will be able to experience the kind of deep powder conditions like I saw in the video of Brundage.  You live in such a beautiful area of Idaho...a little slice of heaven, indeed.

    Enjoyed the day JG

    John

after 3 years on CSN, it was great to put a face with a name.  Never thought we should have taken a pic to post.  You and I seemed to be on the same page on a lot of topics.  I guess sharing our abi-normal humor has brought us closer! I'm glad we got to sit and shoot the bull for a while.

    all the best,

    Steve

    Photo Op...

Actually I did think of it.. If you remember the people behind us, the lady was taking a few photos.

I was going to ask her to take one, then you had a call, and then went back in for a moment and I lost the thought, LOL...

The wedding went awesome, great place up there..., my daughter and I ate breakfast on Saturday, then down to The Village at Corte Madera Mall for some quick shopping and to check out the Microsoft Store.

Will definitely look you up again if our foot steps come close to crossing....

    DonFoo..

    Sorry about that....

I do see where you mentioned being in the area twice on different posts...., my bad. I should have followed through, but didn't think about it after the fact...There was to much stuff going on with the wedding and all.

Steve contacted me, so it was fresh in my mind and he set up a close meeting spot that didn't distract from my plans or goals.

I'm definitely always open for meeting anyone from here when the opportunity presents. So even though you did get ditched, it wasn't intentional.

You should have shot me an email, if memory serves me you have my email address...

    Skiff / Hawk,

What, no picture?  You are both truly abi-normal.  Luckily, I did run into that lady and she gave me this.  It reminds me of other pictures I’ve seen.
