.....falling out. I'm almost 3 weeks post last round of chemo and it's still coming.  I'm not bald by any stretch but it sure is getting thin.   Lost literally all my pubes which I don't really care about...  but this post is actually about the hair on my head.  It's not a huge concern of mine but it's "duly noted."  Any comments?  Similar experiences?

Your shampoo can be a contributing factor.  I was using Pantene moisture balance shampoo and my hair continued to fall out until I stopped using it.  I think it is the ingredient that coats the hair strand dimethiconol.

Lost alL the pubic hair and shockingly it grew back after a year or so.

    Glad u r feeling better!

My hair continued to fall out for 3 months after my treatment ended.  Did not lose it all, but had some bald spots.  It came in thicker and curly.  It is so different for everyone...

Mine continued to fall out weeks past my last chemo too.  I went almost completely bald except for a few random strands that I called my "crazy old man hair".  I didn't think it was anything but the chemo as I had stopped using shampoo after the hair loss of the first round of chemo.  I recently got a trim, not a cut, to kind of shape up my hair as it's growing back in. Now I look like a lady with a short hairstyle instead of "lady what happened to you??"

    Hair Loss

My hair continued to fall out for weeks after treatment ended in early September 2008.  By Christmas that year, I had bald spots all over my head and the remaining hair was very thin.  It began to grow back about a month later and didn't take long to fill back in.

A friend of mine told me to use a shampoo with Biotin in it, which I think helped some to strengthen my hair and perhaps keep the fallout from being as bad as it could have been.  I bought a brand called Jason at a GNC store and continued to use it for about a year.  I also tried not to blow dry my hair or use hairspray to keep breakage at a minimum.

yeah, it'd be nice if it slowed and started to grow back as soon as yours did...  <smile> no, no, no blow drier, hairspray, hair products, that sort of thing.  Surprised  Never really gave much thought to my hair, till it started to abandon me...  now all of a sudden, I find my eyes looking upwards when I stand in front of a mirror.

Pubic hair for me was a year.  I was happy it came back.  There is an old thread about pubic hair.  U could search for it.  My hair and nails always grew slow, same for my mother.

    Hair Loss

The treatment caused me to lose about 2/3 of my (already fine) hair. Very thin with a couple of bald spots, so I got it cut short cuz it just looked bad.  At least these chemo drugs don't make everyone go completely bald...... I think it depends on how thick your hair is to begin with on what you end up with....

I had a lot of hair to start but have lost a lot, and continue to. I can see my scalp but still have quite a bit up there...  so it could be better but could be a lot worse, too.  In terms of length, well....  it was an inch and a half or something like that when this all began but I've not cut it since.

    Hair...

I had thick wavy hair and it got VERY thin and wirey. It also continued for several weeks after treatment. Now, two years later, it is thicker than before, less gray, and grows fast! Could also be thanks to better nutrition. As far as pubic area, came back sparce, but don't care at all!

I was told that I may lose hair, but I didn't lose any at all. In fact, it got thicker and wavy. I used Infusium 23, did not use a brush, no blow drying, and was very gentle with it. As far as down below, I am almost 2 years post treatment and I am still sporting the Telly Savalis! :)

wow... two years...really?  Well, it's an interesting look, I'll say that. In the greater scheme of things, it doesn't matter but...  it's an interesting look.  As for the hair on my head, I usually do my thing and it does it's thing, but aside from observing it abandoning ship, I'm not doing much about it (not that there's much that I could do if I wanted).  It's basically, "Sorry to see you go, Hair, do come back if you're in the mood. You'll always be welcomed."

I find the variances in hair loss interesting. Just as the variances in treatment side effects.  I had very thick hair to begin with and lost about 85% of it. Much more than the doctors lead me to believe. I cropped it off short so I could shampoo and go which was great because the regrowth at first was very fragile and heat would have damaged it. Then it came back very, very thick and curly at the nape of my neck. It took about 6 months for the thin spots to completely fill in.  Now it's back exactly the way it was before. Super thick with a little wave. Just a lot dryer than before due to lack of hormones. Pubic hair was back in 6 months, but thinner.

I wrote about it on my blog: http://assdiaries.blogspot.com/2011/02/new-growth.html

This emu's feathers are my hair on a good day so while I may observe my hair falling out, how much worse could it really be if it does?  I've got a lot of it to lose anyway so it still looks pretty thick.  The hair down south is another story; not a single one remains.
