    Big family here too !

    Hey John,

Thanks for the pictures !  And Matt...your's was soooo good !  But I agree w/  fisrpotpe....we had FISH !  We all would go fishing and back in the day the limits were lots higher than the present.  The boys would help dad fillet, and us girls would clean soak and dip in beer batter....and fry platters full !  We might have some salads to go with but everyone always went for the fillets !  Thanks for sharing these pictures !  It never gets old for me seeing someone enjoying the big catch !   Katie

    I wonder if the big

"fillet" fry is part of our age group, no matter where you lived?  My dad would catch a mess of silver salmon, and fillet them....my mom would batter and deep fry and like you Katie.....there was a huge platter of them with twice baked potatoes (or she'd do the diced potatoes with bacon and onion wrapped in foil on the outside grill).

To date, tho....my very favorite fish is Pike....we don't get it here, but have friends who bring it back with them when they go to the mid-west....Minnesota I think.

    FISH TALES

    Smile

Great catch (the fishing spirits were smiling on you and your bud) and, cooked-up visuals, you lured me in!  Both the fishin and the cookin are great ways to enjoy time.  I could almost taste the mouth watering treats!  The grits'n cheese sounds, and looks great (I'm hooked), that is a way of eating grits that we have not tried before, although we have them for breakfast almost every time we have eggs.  I will ask Diane to whop up a batch of that variation on a southern taste theme, and have at it; she tosses the eats in the blender for me, so I enjoy it all vicariously, which is still most delightful, I must say.

    now, i am really hungry

that looks really great. closest I get is frozen beer battered fish in the box. lots of fishing here of all sorts, both fresh and salt water but just never got the zen of fishing, that spirit that says coming back at the end of the day with no fish is fine.  :-) don

    The Outdoor Experience

Don, for me yes, I'm still ike a little kid, the closer I get to the water on fishing days, the more excited and anxiety kicks in.

But I just love the outdoor experience, the calm and quiet.... Nothing going through my brain other than fishing and being on the water....

Then I'll get a phone call asking me about some database results I just produced during the week in the middle of me trying to land a fish...Grrrr.
