CA 125 Question

Hi,

I wonder if anyone has had this happen to them.  I have been NED since January, 2010.  Had Stage 2C with a hysyterctomy and six months of chemo in August, 2009.  Have been doing real well until recently.  I went into the hospital with what I thought was a gallbladder attack, however, the Drs. were not sure if it was a partial bowel blockage or the gallbladder.  Anyway, after two days with an NG tube  it did straighten itself out but needed gallbladder surgery so I had that about a month ago and then, lucky me, had to have oral surgery a week later.  (I'm tired of giving away body parts!)  I had my scheduled checkup with by gyn/onc the first week of Jan and my CA 125 has doubled.  It usually runs 4 or 6 but has gone up to 12.  He wants to check it again in a month.  Has anyone experienced this?  My gyn/onc said that after surgery the CA 125 may go up a little.   Let me know what if anyone has had this experience.   I know I will worry for the next month.  Thanks!

    Hi Tngrl

The waiting is torture, and I know this is going to be a long month for you.  In reality though, your body has been through a heck of a lot of trauma just in the last month.  Try not to borrow trouble (I know, easier said than done) and I'm sending you good vibes and prayers.

    Hugs,

    Kelly

I just had my check up on

I just had my check up on Friday and my CA level was up a little too.  IT went from 10 that I had when I finished chemo to 18.  Doc is not concerned.  She said the first test was right after chemo and when I had this test done I had a cold and was getting over a stomach bug.  She said that definetly could have raised it.  I am doing another test in a month.  She said the big thing is that I feel good and am not having any symptoms.  Of course if that changes they will do a scan....

I wouldn't stress about it at all.  I am in the same boat andI am not stressing..

    Thanks Val,

I can always use encouragement.  I have a lot of confidence and trust in my gyn/onc.  Thanks!

    Kelly,

Hugs and prayers are so much appreciated and welcome!  I will try and be patient and have decided to keep myself busy.  I found some craft items on pinterest.  If I keep my hands busy I will not think about it too much.  Thanks for your encouraging words!
