surgery in 2 days

so here is my story:
about 2 moinths ago i felt a little "hard" area in my right testicle, i almost ignored it .
it must have been god that made me be at a house working , while the lady watched a show featuring tom green , something inside me freaked out..immediatly i called and made an appointment , had a US and the docotr told me i should have the testicle removed.
at that point i lost it.. not because the testicle but the possibilities..
on monday 12/17/12 im having the surgery...one day before my 36 birth day
im nervous, scared, angry and all of the rest....
i have 2 boys and a wife, please guys should i be worried? about the results?
i know i should but i just need some support or some words to help me get thru this.
my email is hv32010@gmail.com if anyone wants to contact me and talk

i will be posting results here.
thanks

hector

    Hi Hector...just noticed
Hi Hector...just noticed your post. My husband has rectal cancer so I don't check here often. He had testicular cancer 12 yrs ago...had surgery and 6 weeks of radiation and has been fine. There is a possibility that this rectal tumor was caused by that radiation...some docs say likely others not. Get whatever treatment the docs recommend but remember that treatment can cause other problems down the road. Wish someone would have told us a colonoscopy before the recommended age 50 would be smart but no one did. Second opinions are always a good idea too. Good luck!

Oh ... we had a baby last year so don't think one testicle means no more kids :)

    Hang in there

Hang in there man and hope for the best.  The orchiectomy (testical removal) surgery is not that bad, for me I went in one morning and was home that evening with 3 weeks or so of mild discomfort afterward.  The part that was very bad for me was the RPLND surgery, I truly hope you don't need that one because it is no fun.  I am nearing recovery from that surgery.  Just keep your head up, I also already had 2 kids so for me I wasn't really worried about that part, just focus on staying positive and keeping your head up :)

    hi guys thanks for the

hi guys thanks for the respoonses, i went back for my after surgery doctors appoinment, and he said i have i have 2 enlarged lymph nodes in my belly

about 2 cm, he said i have 2 options once my bloodwork is done and checked here in 2-3 week period:  chemo or lymph node disection (i forgot the name of the surgery )

any ways im hoping for just chemo and survelliance but hey, i will do anything to beat this terrible disease.

i had a question about the chemo: have anyone here gotten a port installed? is it paiful? just curious

the doctor also said i have a greater than 98% cure /survival rate which is encouraging but no cancer diagnosis is easy to take .

im keeping positive and will keep posting here, i have to say i admire everyone of you here because i takes a lot of courage to go thru this and to be strong infront of your family, my respect to all of you and my thanks for all your support.

    My husband had radiation for

My husband had radiation for the testicular cancer, but is having chemo now for the rectal cancer.  He had his port put in back in Aug/Sept and it was tender for a few days, but not unbearable.  The nurse gave him some numbing cream to use before they access the port.  He used that the first few times he went for blood work and for chemo, so you may want to ask the nurse about that.   His surgeons nurse is big on making sure there is as little pain as possible!   It was a little tube - you squeeze some on the port area and then cover it with a sticky patch she also gave us, about 1/2 an hour before they access the port.  Good luck and try not to worry too much!

    Thanks hector...sending
Thanks hector...sending prayers back for you.

I was just trying to remember when they did the port...last few months are a blur! Now i remember seeing him in recovery and how good he felt..said he wanted to leave and go to the beach! They drugged him up pretty good! I dont think he was asleep...think they did what they call twilighting so you are awake but dont feel or remember anything. Its definately worth asking the doc what the plan is. You should not feel any pain and they should send you home with pain pills. Ive had 3 csections and was never big on pain pills but just recently read that controlling the pain helps you heal faster.

Re: diet...there is a ton of info. Some swear by juicing and we did actually buy a juicer but the oncologist recommends going light on anti oxidants during chemo. There is a lot of info about supplements herbs etc. Im not sure what i believe at this point. Vitamin d seems to be the vitamin of choice today so you may want them to check your levels and take that.

Chemo could be rough...id try to focus on eating what you can during treatment and read up on the other stuff for after. I think everyone knows a good diet and exercise is best...
