lost my mum/how to help?

on October 5th my beautiful and brilliant mum passed away at 58 years old.. just 4 months after her diagnosis of stage IV poorly differentiated endometrial cancer. I wish all the best for you ladies and hope you have much better results. We are heartbroken. She left behind a devastated husband and three children. Many family/friends have asked where they can make a donation and we are at a loss. We would like very much to somehow benefit others in the same position since there were so few resources for us. Does anyone know of a way to donate specifically to endometrial/uterine cancer? or at least metastatic cancer research?
Thank you. xx

You and your family have my prayers.
I am so sorry to hear of your Mother’s passing. I know how devastative losing a family can be. My Mother passed away 20 years ago May 1 this year of a sarcoma tumor. She is still missed. May you and your family find peace that she is not in any pain anymore. Treasure all the memories and remember all the good times with your mum. As far as donantions go, I would suggest typing in Uterine Cancer Research Donations to try and find a foundation that will take a donation just for Uterine Cancer Research. I know there are some out there because I have seen them but I have not donated to them. Praying for you and your family that you get through this time. trish in Texas.

My mum passed away from UPSC
My mum passed away from UPSC on 21 July at 59, so I know what you are going through. She battled emotionally and physically for 2 years with this horrible disease, also leaving behind a husband, 3 children and one grandchild that was born only a few weeks before she died (who she never got to meet).

My mum hated her cancer and didn't want to donate to any cancer so we suggested a charity for sick children. I know a lot of university's need donations for uterine cancer research so they might be worth looking into.

Again I am sorry for you loss xx

    That is so hard
I'm so sorry to hear you lost her at such a young age. I lost both parents, but they were older, and this must be just devastating for you.

I wonder if there is any place they are doing research on this cancer? You might Google if to find out. I guess another alternative would be to donate to a fund that helps women who cannot afford their treatment.

    so sorry
And I commend you for wanting to help others with this disease. There is not alot of publicity about uterine cancer. I wanted to help fund research but lost my passion - such a big battle.

Perhaps even setting up a fund to assist others in your community that are struggling with the burdens of cancer. I often wonder how people handle this disease without adequate insurance.

God bless you. All mothers die too young - and my heart goes out to you and your family,

    Sharing Sympathy and comfort

Thinking of you and your family at this difficult time.  Others have given good suggestions of how to find places doing research. Local hospices are also a source of support for families and people with cancer.

May the days ahead and your past good memories of your mother bring you comfort in the months and years ahead.

    update

Thank you so much for all the kind words. I hope you ladies are doing great. I check in every once in a while and am always happy to see when any of you get good news.

Just wanted to update you on what we decided to do..

I chose the Revlon Run/Walk for Women's Cancer.. the organization donates to research as well as support groups and the hospital my sister works at (Montefiore in the Bronx, which while she was never treated at Monte I think my mum would have really liked supporting where my sister works). It wasn't exactly what I wanted, but I think it's broad enough to cover the basic goal.

Below is the link to our story incase anyone is interested.

    Be well!

    Thanks for sharing your story-

What a beautiful post on your fundraising page - thanks for sharing. Like your mom, my mom seems far too young, fit and healthy to be dealing with this advanced, aggressive cancer. She was diagnosed stage3c (grade 3) one year ago and has been amazingly strong and postive as she's gone through all the recommended treatment (chemo + external radiation). We were hopeful last fall when a scan appeared to be cancer-free but in the past couple of months, more tumors have reappeared. It's just too aggressive and I'm not sure what our options are at this point.

Like you and your family, I opted to do a fundraising run, completing a half-marathon for the American Cancer Society in late Jan. I am grateful that she was feeling good and upbeat to come to Phoenix to cheer me on for the race. It seems crazy to think that was just a month ago and even in that short time, the prognosis for the future has gotten so much worse.

Good luck with your run. I'm sure that it will be a powerful and emotional day for you and your family.

    Best wishes to you all.
