Update On Me..Dakota

Hi everyone, I know in my last post I was wondering about margins and such, well I got my answer from my local Breast Surgeon. He told me that because of an extensive breast reduction and where the tissue sample was taken from, it didn't leave him a great deal of room to do the surgery and they weren't sure if the BC was just in that one area, also I don't need any MRI or other tests because I am having a bilateral mastectomy done. They're sending me to Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia to have the surgery and also be reconstructed. I know that my decision is right for me and my husband agrees that I have to do what is best for me. I have my appt on December 21st to see both Dr's the same day. I'll know more then, but I'm sure my surgery will be early next year.
I know someone that has gone there, and they said that I'd be in great hands that the center is just wonderful and the people are so compassionate.

Well, I'll keep you updated.

    Glad to hear
that you made the decision and are going to have the surgery and treatment at a facility that you trust. Write down any questions you have, even if you think they seem silly, bring the list with you and check it off. You will enjoy the holidays so much more if you don't have questions hanging over your head.

Best to you and your family. It was a hard decision and it means so much to have your families support.

I am happy that you've made a decision
My only suggestion ... would be to have a list of questions, comments or concerns written
up on the day of visit. Also, please borrow, or purchase a tape record. Ask if your
visit can be recorded -- this way, you can review over, over, and over again what was
discussed, offered as viable options and decisions made.

You may have more questions for your new doctors once you get home and review your
visit via recorder -- however, it is my humble opinion, that you may become more
aware of what is happening, why it is happening -- and you will be more at peace
    with treatments, or upcoming surgeries.

Gentle hugs, and best of luck.
