The passing of my beloved husband

In may my journey began with the love of my life, I thought that he would have survive but its been a hell of a journey that turn my life upside down.

After having surgery and losing his ability to speak and eat and having a feeding tube, nothing we did was making anything for the better, after been told his tumor had been removed and that Chemo and Radiation would complete his treatment, it was not meant to be, We were giving the run around in the first place and nothing was making him better,

He was my life and I was his, I had my heart broken so many times and I cry day and night looking for hope but even that is taken away. After an infection and a 2nd opinion and been told that the cancer had spread and the loosing of his vision on the right eye it was heart breaking but I stood and comfort him and told him things will be ok.

On Wed between 6.15 and 6.20 in the afternoon, I held him and told him I gave him permission to die, that it was ok to go and that he did not need to suffer or fight for me, I told him to look for his father and that I love him, and he took his last breath and went.

My heart was shutter and my soul is gone, I know now that no matter how much i wish he would have come back and woke up it was not meant to be.

I feel for all the people that suffer from this dreadful decease because its a cruel one to have.

    Elizabeth,

No words that I type today will ease the pain that you feel. Hopefully, as time passes, so does the pain and only fond memories remain.

Oh my God, that instills great sorrow that I have for you and great fear for me. I can't say anything to make you feel better I know. I too, think this a dreadful disease. I don't know how anyone can make it through without the love of their life. Praying for peace for you. At least he is not suffering anymore but I know you miss him.

Elizabeth I really hated to read your post. My heart is breaking for you. I wish we didn't have to lose our loved ones and have to tell them its ok to leave us. I still have David, but based on what the doctors said today I too am facing the reality that my love is going to die. My heart truly aches for you. I am so sorry for your loss.

    Cancer Is So Cruel
Cancer is a real Beast. To die (or have a loved one die) is difficult enough, but why does the road to the afterlife have to be such a struggle? I am sure that your husband is standing next to his father, and they are both looking down at you. Rick.

Gone in Body, Never in Spirit
So sorry for the passing of your husband, it's terrible to read of such loss. It takes a piece of me away....

Just know that your husband is with oyu, in you and a part of you, he will always be.

So even though his body is gone, his spirit and memories will be with you forever.

    prayers with you,
    John

“They that love beyond the world cannot be separated by it.
Death cannot kill what never dies.
Nor can spirits ever be divided, that love and live in the same divine principle, the root and record of their friendship.
If absence be not death, neither is theirs.
Death is but crossing the world, as friends do the seas; they live in one another still.
For they must needs be present, that love and live in that which is omnipresent.
In this divine glass they see face to face; and their converse is free, as well as pure.
This is the comfort of friends, that though they may be said to die, yet their friendship and society are, in the best sense, ever present, because immortal.”

    So sorry, and thank you
Your post was so touching that it brought me to tears. I am so sorry for your loss. At the same time, it reminded me to never take for granted the fact that I am one of the fortunate people who have survived HNC--so far. Thank you for that reminder.

    Very Sorry
Chloe Elizabeth, I ache for you. I'm so sorry your husband has been taken from you. I understand he just couldn't make the recovery we'd all have liked, but it's hard to think that the asked-for miracle just wasn't to be. I hope you find some small comfort here and there, and that you can spend some time with others who cared for him. I wish, with all the advice we all throw out on this site, that we could offer some to help get you through this horrible time.
