It's going to take some time to set up an appt with Sloan
I know how they work. If you can get your primary care provider to request the consultation, that may speed things up.

Get it in the works. You can always cancel.

I go to Sloan Kettering for my treatment for Appendix Cancer. I don't know the oncologists in Breast Cancer, so I can't make a recommendation. They have some amazing drs there. However, be prepared to wait. Lots of reading material with you.

Second opinions can't hurt, and your insurance should cover that.

    Definitely
put the effort into getting an appointment with MSKCC. My oncologist is not with this world renowned facility but my thoracic surgeon is. I am so happy I found someone who took me in right away.

The way it worked for me was ... I made the call and the advocate at the center asked me to fax over EVERYTHING I had. He took my paperwork to the oncologists there and they made the decision that I need to see a thoracic surgeon. (I have suspicious lung nodules)

I would definitely call ASAP. I have the name and number of the person I spoke to and will share this info with you if you would like. Just PM me and I will send it right away.

    Denise ...
Only you, can make this decision. Take your time, do a little research, and
    make peace with your decision.

Personally, I did, and would again, ...get a 2nd opinion. You deserve the
    BEST!

Strength, Courage and HOPE for a Cure.

    When in doubt
get someone else to read your scans and/or slides. Pathology is too important. If you are not comfortable, then you need another opinion.

    My insurance covered my
My insurance covered my second opinion when I went to MDA. And my oncologist seemed fine about it. I think second opinions, from time to time, are a great idea for all of us.
