    We Got Lucky
Northern NJ here we kept power. To much wind I hope everyone else is safe. Will peek out side once the sun comes up

I've been watching this on the news
I have been watching this on the news the last few days.Saw alot of pics today of the devastation and saving some who stayed. Makeshift shelters set up all over and many homes, cars boats etc are destroyed. Haven't heard of any lives lost but still could be some.
I wouldn't wait out something like this.Material things don't mean that much to me.It's human and animal life.Even those pesty racoons and possums that come to my house and eat the food for stray cats.

We have so much more that we will hear about throughout the next few days.

Good tips survivor! Also, have lots of water for drinking, cooking and to flush your toilet. Have batteries for flashlights. Have plenty of water and food for your pets too.

    Thanks! There were a lot
Thanks! There were a lot more on the Red Cross site, but, I thought everyone might want to just go there and see what it said for themselves. There was too much for me to copy and paste here.

Still praying that everyone weathered out the storm safely.

    In NYC
Things are pretty rough here. Still no power, cell phone, internet, or water for me or my elderly wheelchair bound parents (and 250,000 other people in Manhattan alone). We are the lucky ones though. No loss of life or property. Nevertheless, things are starting to come around and we are hoping electricity will come back by the weekend. New Yorkers are tough, resillient and savvy. The spirit here is undeniable.

    Checking in from NY
Hi my beautiful ladies - I just got power last night (Wed.). I had lost power on Monday. I am close to zone A so I saw a lot of action. The cars parked outside were flooding in water. The streets had so much water from the ocean, it was crazy. A car caught on fire outside my building, but no one was hurt. The wind was insane. I was so happy when it went away. This was, far far, the worst we've have had in NYC, I think? I come from an island, so I am used to natural disasters, but this was a little too crazy.

I hope everyone made it through safely. I will read the rest of the posts to see how everyone else is doing.

Thank you for checking up on us! XOXO

    On Rock Center
On Rock Center with Brian Williams last night, it showed neighborhoods that are gone. Those poor people, and, I am so sorry for all of you that went through this. Praying tomorrow will bring help for you.

I think it is awful that they are still having the New York Marathon when so many are suffering.

    Glad your power is back
I'm glad you made it. That was pretty close watching a car burn and the ocean on your street.

I remember living 3 days without power. I had a kerosene lamp and tall candlesticks. It did make me realize what it must have been like in the 19th century to live without electricity. I had a hard time to read in that kind of light. I did have a small gas stove but the charm of having to cook on it was quickly lost. Living without a quick source of water is no fun either.

I hope that things will soon be back in order in NYC.

    Best to you,

    Doris

    The news this morning showed
The news this morning showed that they were finally getting food, generators and water to those poor people. Some of it was what the Mayor had gotten for the marathon runners. What a jerk!
