r-ice therapy

DOCTORS ARE WANTING MY FATHER IN LAW TO DO THE R-ICE TREATMENT FOR HI NHL BUT HE THINKS THAT THEY TOLD HIM THAT HE ONLY HAS A 1% SURVIVAL RATE IF HE DOES IT. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE? I DONT SEE WHY THE DOCTORS WOULD OFFER A TREATMENT THAT HAS A 99% CHANCE OF KILLING HIM.

    Numbers

I would call the doctor and see if he was misunderstood. It sounds like someone got a decimal wrong here.

    Hope lives here ☺
Hi Hope and "hope" is a great name for this site.
Lots of it here and welcome.

I agree with Max, verify those numbers because that sounds
    way off the mark.

It would also help if you provided more info in the "about me" section
here so folks can refer to that easily. I assume you mean high grade
non hodgkins lymphoma. Survival statistics depend on many things
like age, staging, etc. and in the end they are statistics. As my oncologist
told me, "Whatever the odds, who's to say you won't be in the survival percentage?".

So, be careful in your reading - Internet has lots of outdated info and they are
coming up with new treatments all the time. You can drive yourself crazy
reading some of those things as well. It's good to get educated but you have
to maintain hope and a positive attitude as well.

I wish the best for you father-in-law and please keep us updated.
He's welcome to join us here too :).

    Hugs and positive thoughts,

    Jim
