    You can or you don't have
    You can or you don't have to. It will be good either way. The peelings pretty much just fall off anyway if you leave them on. I hope you like it. Let me know if you do!

    1 ½ CUP OF BREAD CRUMBS
    1 16 OZ. CAN OF TOMATO SAUCE
    1 TBLSP GARLIC PEPPER
    1 TSP SALT
    4 -6 CUPS OF WATER

    COMBINE HAMBURGER, EGGS, BREAD CRUMBS AND GARLIC PEPPER, MIX WELL. ROLL THE HAMBURGER INTO MEATBALLS, COOK IN SKILLET ON MEDIUM HEAT UNTIL COOKED THROUGH. SET MEATBALLS ASIDE ON A PAPER TOWEL TO REMOVE EXCESS OIL.
    ADD THE FOLLOWING INGREDIENTS TO A STEW POT: WATER, TOMATO SAUCE, STEWED TOMATOES, PEELED AND QUARTERED POTATOES, QUARTERED ONION, CARROTS AND WATER, ADD SALT TO TASTE. COOK ON MEDIUM HEAT FOR 30 MINUTES THEN ADD MEATBALLS AND SIMMER ON A LOW HEAT FOR TEN ADDITIONAL MINUTES. ADD ADDITIONAL WATER IF DESIRED. TO THICKEN STEW MIX 2 TBLSP FLOUR IN A CUP OF WATER AND WHIP TO A THICK SAUCE FREE OF LUMPS AND ADD TO STEW WHILE IT IS COOKING.

    SCALLOPED HAM N' POTATOES
    SCALLOPED HAM N' POTATOES

    2 Tbsp. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
    1/2 cup milk
    6 cups sliced, uncooked potatoes
    1/4 cup chopped onion
    2 Tbsp. chopped pimento
    1 slice smoked ham ( 1/2 inch thick )

    Combine flour, salt and pepper; slowly stir in soup and milk. Heat to boiling.

    Combine potatoes, green pepper, onion and pimento. Place in greased 2 quart casserole. Pour soup mixture over and mix lightly.

    Cut ham in serving pieces; place on top of casserole or bury in potatoes. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes covered. Uncover and bake 45 minutes longer.

    I made this recipe when it was first posted awhile back and it is delicious. And, with the weather turning chilly now, it is perfect! A small green salad and some rolls, YUM!

    My Mother in Law's Pork Soup
    This is easy to make and tastes good on cold rainy days, like today.

    Cook 4-5 pork chops in chicken broth (about 4 cups worth). When they're done, take them out of the broth, cut off the fat and the bones, and put bite-size pieces of the meat back in.
    Shred 1/2 cabbage and cook until done.
    Serve with salt and pepper and rice.

    1/2 c. packed brown sugar
    4 tsp. prepared mustard
    1/4 tsp. pepper

    Mix ham, pork, eggs, bread crumbs, milk, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 teaspoons mustard and pepper together. Spread mixture in ungreased loaf pan. Mix remaining brown sugar and mustard together; spread over ham loaf. Bake uncovered in 350 degree oven until done, about 1 1/2 hours. It makes 8 servings.

    Note: I make scalloped potatoes and asparagus with cheese sauce to go with it.

    We love ham Noel, so, I will be trying this, especially with the weather cooler. It feels good to have the oven on. Could I have my butcher ground the pork and ham up for me? Thanks!

    Super Bowl Cheeseball
    I know it's not super bowl time but this can be shaped any way you like.

    Super Bowl Party Cheeseball

    4oz jar of Old English Cheese Spread
    4oz jar of Olive and Pimento Spread
    8oz Cream Cheese
    Ritz Crackers
    Stick Pretzels

    Mix all 3 cheeses, chill them in order to make shaping easier
    You can roll this in some crushed ritz (crush finely) to make handling and shaping possible.
    Shape like a football on a large plate, this is super easy.
    Use your stick pretzels to make the laces :)

    This is the best Cheeseball recipe I've ever tried, mm mm good.

    Strawberry Basil Sorbet with Shortbread Cookies
    I was reading through all the yummy recipes wondering what I could share. So here is what I came up with -

    Since I make a lot of ice cream here is a recipe for Strawberry Basil Sorbet and shortbread cookies. Yeah, I know the sorbet is non-fat and healthy but the shortbread cookies can clog your arteries if you don’t have some restraint ‘cause they are addictive.


    4 cups of washed and chopped strawberries
    1/3 – ½ cup of sugar (soft brown works well)
    1 cup of finely chopped basil.


    Directions –
    *sprinkle the sugar on the strawberries and mix well. Let stand at room temperature for at least 20 mins.
    *Place the strawberry and sugar mix in a blender and add the basil. Puree as much as possible.
    *put in ice cream maker until firm or desired consistency, transfer to a plastic container and put in freezer.
    If you don’t have an ice cream maker then put it in a plastic container. Leave in the freezer and every 40 – 60 mins, take a fork and mash it up as finely as possible.


    Shortbread cookies

    I cup of softened butter
    ½ cup of sugar (brown also works)
    2 cups of flour
    Pinch of salt.


    Directions –
    *Cream the butter and sugar together.
    *Add the flour sifted and the pinch of salt.
    *mix together for about 3 mins. Kneading works. You should end up with a soft dough.
    *Take the dough and roll into a log. Slice about ½ inch thick.
    *Place on a cookie sheet covered with parchment and prick. Sprinkle a little extra sugar on top if you like.
    *Bake at 325 degress for about 20 mins.

    I started doing this
    I started doing this recently, and I really enjoy eating grapes this way. What got me started was my not being able to keep up with my stash of grapes before some would go bad. So, I froze grapes (off the vine) to keep them good.

    6-9 hungry jack flaky biscuits
    1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
    Brown ground beef and strain.
    Add next 5 ingredients and heat til bubbly.
    Pour into 2 quart casserole dish.
    Peel biscuits in half and lay across top.
    Sprinkle with cheese.
    Bake for 25-30 minutes.
