    Won Ton Chicken Tacos
A won ton wrap is deep fried like a taco shell. There is spiced chicken and slaw in the taco - kind of an Asian taste. They taste best with a lime squeeze over the top before eating it. GREAT STUFF and very addicting!

    So different fornus all
I am 12 weeks out this Friday and while some of my taste is back, some of it is warped. I was always a lover of fruit and now when I try it almost all of it tastes like vinegar! If I have mixed fruit in front of my and close my eyes and eat it I can't tell what is what, it all has vinegar taste. Bananas taste normal to me but burn the heck out of my throat. I was always a spicy food lover before, spicy everything!!! Now not so much and I miss it. On the flip side some thing's that shouldn't taste spicy do and not in a good way. My poor husband has to try everything for me first. Ketchup and mustard are no-gos at this point but I'm hopeful that it will get better.I'm so thankful we all were able to have such wonderful treatments that is almost always successful in curing us but I sure wish more could be done to spare our taste buds.

Spicy foods almost cost me a marriage...my wife loves it (I did too before treatments) but it seriously hurt afterwards.

    I had the same problem....
up to 6 months after tx. Twas never a big fruit lover, but in an effort to just eat fluid based foods to gain weight and get rid of the dang peg tube, I worked on eating fresh peaches....Cantalope....Watermelon....and that light green melon concoction that Chemo-brian will not let me remember it's name. :) All tasted like Vinegar. Oranges, Grapefruit and Strawberries were a no-no (maybe the wrong time of year). Went to Guam and Saipan about 10 months after tx and a lady there gave me a fresh Mango to try, and "Wow" that did the trick for me. It must have needed something to bust open the wall, because on the way home the fruits and salads on the flights home were terrific. Some really great tasting foods, and now I'm all over fruits and veggies. Ketchup.....I can eat now, but just don't care for it. I'm 65 and must have eaten at least 200 lbs. of French Fries in my life....covered in Ketchup. By leaving it off, I never knew what good fries tasted like, until now.

    spicey food post treatment
About 90 days before I could eat spicey foods again. It was the carbonated beverages that got me. 6 months before I could even think about soft drinks. Tried some champagne about 9 months out and thought I had poured batery acid down my gulet!

Thank God beer was a different story! 2 months and I could once again enjoy that nectur of the gods.

    LOL Meagan.....
Lust is precisely the right word. I dream about it (last night I had a PLATTER of tuna sadwiches with tomatoes on them in my dream, with corn chips and hummus on the counter...don't ask me, I've never ate the combo)....:)

I'm obsessed and I don't care who knows it. I've also learned who to talk to about my obsession...hubby eats functionally, you can feed him anything, and he simply fuels himself...my neighbor, however, is the main cook for his family, and understands all the nuances to fine eatery. I LOVE talking food with him.

    Yum yum yum
LOVE Won Ton Chicken Tacos. But they sting, and sometime hurt. But I'm sitting here, and would STILL love to have some. I recall gazing wistfully at the catsup bottle on the restaurant table, then the joy of getting my beloved condiment back. A few months ago, I did some backsliding, though, and now catsup stings again (I still eat it, but not as much). Some foods are painful - it's a trial and error thing.

As for salad dressings - I have noticed that the regular, shelf bottled stuff stings - the more expensive refrigerated all natural stuff does not burn.

If I eat food that's too spicy now - my ears burn and hurt - my son sometimes laugh, because if I overreach on the spice meter, I end up with tears in my eyes, holding one or both ears.

Reminder - water isn't too good for the spicy burn - try holding milk in your mouth.

On the other hand, thought, it seems my sour may be off. My kids gave me some (hee hee) "hydrating" gum that was so sour, it made them suffer, and they had to spit it out. They gave me some, and I thought it was pretty good, and kind of on the sour side.

I miss Grippos bbq chips, but I can eat mustard - go figure.

    Wow! This was really nice
Wow! This was really nice info! Everyone's exp is truely different!

Phrannie, I will be so happy when you start eating. We will all have a cyber taco party in celebration :)

I am now trying to try a tiny bit at a time and it is working. E.g. I made my own salsa with only a tiny bit of chilli, that tastes good.

I will have to work thru flouride sting till it goes away! Magic mouth wash they gave me (walgreens) taste worst than lycodine, so sticking with lycodine which taste very bitter.

Also i find that I am very sensitive to outside food, have to keep trying.

Pam, i also noticed that shelf salad dressings sting ( even with no spice) but the refrigerated or home made does not!

A freiend bought me a home made very moist bread and that tasted so muh better! Still do noy like store bought bread.

Also cannot eat any canned food yet.
