Neck massage therapy

I read about neck massage therapy here and inquired to my ONC. I had my 1st 40 minute massage this morning and it was delightful. My neck is not nearly as tight or swollen and I actually feel like my speech is better. Insurance is covering it. Thanks to whoever posted about it.

    that feels good
    Hi hwt,

I posted about neck massage a month or so ago. I’ve since finished with my (4) sessions and liked them very much. I also ordered the chin & neck compression garment but haven’t picked it up yet. I try to rub around my chin and neck now more than I use to, every little bit helps.

Enjoy the massage while it lasts.

    Best,

    Matt

    Thanks Matt
I'm sure glad you posted on the massage or I wouldn't be enjoying it. They told me my insurance approved 30 but we are starting with 6 and will evaluate after that. She mentioned the compression garment and said it would also be good for air travel. I'm sure that would be a pleasant sight. I'm not sold on it yet so when yours comes in let me know if you like it. Guess I'm picturing how goofy my husband I would look at night, me with a compression garment on my head and he has a CPAP machine. Whatever it takes to keep us going :-)
    Thanks again!

    message covered by insurance?
I had olfactory neuroblastoma, finished neck and sinus radidation treatment ~ 6 months ago. Got stiff neck and shoulder. Did your onc order message?

    Thanks,

    It's effective initially
I went for about six sessions and it really does help get the lymph fluid moving again. I would recommend it to everyone with lymph fluid buildup and yes insurance paid. Longterm tightness issues are best dealt with exercises like yoga and tai chi that have a concentrated practice of moving, twisting, or manipulating the head. Compression garments I never tried or needed after the massage and exercise.

    Glad to hear
Glad to hear it is effective. Only 2 sessions under my belt and I feel a difference. Already have good range of motion but have swelling and hard as a rock when I wake up. Yes, Olivia, my ONC had to prescribe the neck massage therapy. My insurance approved 30 sessions but I'm sure I won't need that many because they ultimately show you what to do on your own.

    Compression garment
I finally got up enough nerve to post at least one picture. This is probably what your compression garment will look like with the exception of the mouth area. If your lips are swollen also, then you will have the mouth flap. If not, that area will be open. The garments come in loads of different colors and patterns. I chose the colors of the Baltimore Ravens, the next Super Bowl Champions :-)

Thanks for posting George. I must say, the purple really sets off your eyes :-) I had no idea it would encompass your entire head, looks uncomfortable. Unfortunately, my lips do swell. Within an hour of waking mostly all back to normal. Really appreciate you taking the mystery out of it for me. Rams/Chiefs fan here.

    Not really uncomfortable
I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable. It's a tad bothersome when my chronic sinusitis is acting up. Going to see a new ENT in two days to see if he can get rid of this danged infection. It's been hanging on for over a year. I've tried just about every antibiotic on the planet. I just can't get it knocked out.

Speaking of knocked out, the Rams handed us our heads on a platter last week. I know it's only pre season but it is a bit of a worry sometimes. Good luck in the regular season.
