TSH levels dropping instead of rising...why?

My total thyroidectomy was June 5th. I'm waiting for tsh levels to get high enough for RAI treatment, but instead of the levels elevating, they are dropping. I started out at 8, went up to 10, and now a week later, it's dropped to 7. Why would this happen? This whole cancer ordeal is scary... and now this! Has anyone else had this experience?

Trying to stay optimistic...

    Are you following the iodine
Are you following the iodine free diet, and stopped taking Levothyroxine medication? My levels were all over the place and, despite following all dietry advice, I was unable to have the RAI. Eventually I was found to have a small amount of the thyroid still in my neck, hidden behind the carotid artery. After removal in yet another operation, my levels stabilised.

    Thanks for replying...
I do not take Levothyroxine or any other thyroid meds. I'm on calcium and magnesium, but that's it. I have been on the low iodine diet for three weeks and am sticking to it rigidly. I have to have an ultrasound of my neck to check for residual thyroid. I'm worried... had parathyroid surgery in April, and TT in June. My vocal cords were damaged in the last surgery. I dread the thought of a third surgery in as many months.
