    Xeloda
    Congrats Pepe,

Glad to hear that it's working great for you. I don't know that I'll ever be able to go one Xeloda, and to be honest, not sure that I want to. I've heard the side effects are worse with blistering on the feet. I'd be very interested to see how you react to it as your treatment progresses.

Good news Pepe. I think taking a pill would be better than infusion (I just hated infusions) Glad this is working for you. I would have liked to have been put on that. Keep us posted.

So Happy for you! 60 % is an awesome accomplishment.. congratulations
Xeloda is 5FU... in a pill form..
I hope the hand foot condition and stomach issues don't come your way..
When you say first round.. how long have you been on it..
I don't really think pill is good for me.. but my CEA is non reactive so I can't tell from a blood test how I am doing.
I had hand/foot from the IV form that I didn't know was it till I got the Xeloda paraphenalia- when my old onc put me on it.. but my new onc didn't think I should be on at at this time. so we stopped it..
    Best of luck to you!!!

dmj, for the moment just tired and some manageable diarrhea ,
When I say 1 round means as you know two straight weeks and one off! Still 15 weeks ahead!

    Should not be skeptical!
I would not be skeptical about Xeloda! I was on it for 6 weeks with my radiation and it did it's job! And I was on it for adjuvent chemo post surgery due to other medical conditions. I am now in remission and doing well. My CEA levels always remained in the normal levels while taking it. I did not have any side effects with the Xeloda. Although my highest dose was only 3500 so that may have been the reason. Although I thnk that number is based on weight. I was also pretty strict about doing the side effect preventative stuff. It worked well for me and I was able to maintain my normal lifestyle.

    Xeloda + Celebrex(R)
    Xeloda + Celebrex(R) (celecoxib)
Data presented by Dr. E. Lin of M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and his team
show that the combination of Xeloda and Celebrex (celecoxib) significantly
increased the time to tumor progression to six months, versus 3 months without
Celebrex, and the rate of disease stabilization to 62.5 percent, versus 22.8
percent without Celebrex, for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer.
In addition, the patients treated with the combination of Xeloda and Celebrex
experienced less Grade 1 to 2 hand-foot syndrome and diarrhea. The study was
a retrospective analysis of 67 patients with metastatic colorectal cancer who
were either taking Xeloda in combination with Celebrex or Xeloda monotherapy.
Celebrex is a COX-2 specific inhibitor approved for both osteoarthritis
(OA) and adult rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and for the management of acute pain.
Celebrex is also approved for the treatment of familial adomenal polyposis
(FAP), a rare and devastating genetic disease of the colon.

    Excellent!
What a fantastic drop in CEA after one round! Congratulations! And glad you had minimal side effects. I was on that combination previously. I tolerated it very well. And I loved taking a pill rather than being on a drip (especially a 48 hr drip). Eventually I did end up with sore feet (blisters on the bottom of my feet). But that took a long time. I'd do it again, if I could.

    Woohoo Pepe! Wonderful
Woohoo Pepe! Wonderful news. I was one Xeloda for 8 months before my feet started to get red and peel. i was lucky enough to be able to stop it. That was November and so far so good.
Keep up the good work my friend.
