I am glad to hear things are going well with your hip, but sorry to hear that the pain meds are causing you such a problem. May it pass quickly so that you can enjoy the use of that new hip with the summer before us! Take care of yourself and get the rest you need.

sooooo sorry that you hurt due to constipation. just another idea, when i feel a BM coming on, i pat some ky jelly on my anus before going. seems to help a little with the slide. sit in warm water to ease pain. sephie

Hi Alyse, I am 2 and a half years out of treatment and still trying to manage the pain from the radiation. This is my first time posting. I lost a lot of faith with doctors after this ordeal, from misdiagnosis to may radiation oncologist saying he didn't understand why I was still in pain. This was the same doctor that when I told him I was having really bad hot flashes after treatment, he said I though you had a hysterectomy. I said I did but my ovaries are still intact! Then he said oh I would have shielded your ovaries then!Your story really intrigued me because the last month I have had excruciating pain in the groin and hip. After seeing your story, I think I have to bite the bullet and go back ton the doctor. I hope you are doing well. I still have weekly bouts of filling the toilet with blood, sex has been out of the question, I leave a trail of blood to the bathroom after so we have stopped trying and the fact that I need a bathroom within minutes has forced me to go on disability. Good luck all, this forum is a true help.

    Thank you, Alyse
I want to thank you for unknowingly inspiring me to get a baseline bone density screening last week. My report was in the normal range without meds, but my insurance company was reluctant to cover the scan until my doctor shared some of the stats that you brought forth in addition to specifics she found herself.

Happy anniversary! And here's to your recovery from surgery!!

    Happy Anniversary
Thanks for your informative posts. I had groin pain today and spasms down the back of the right leg then burning from the inside out like fire. I can track it right to my anus. Something happened to inflame it or maybe it's just radiation sickness. It was bad enough that I took a pain pill which I hate doing because of the side affect you described here . . . ouch, ouch ouch! One thing just leads to the other. I really want to have a bone density but my doctor has ignored me twice. There must be a lot of pressure on these doctors what to prescribe and what not to prescribe. My insurance company has gotten the short end of the stick with me lately. So much medical stuff and I have been seeing a psychologist too for the related stress of all this stuff.

I don't know what I would do without this board keeping me informed. I will stay on the bone density thing.

So happy your marriage held up under all this icky cancer business. Mine seems to be improving even. Good things can come out of lousy things.
    All the best,
    Sandy

    Hi jane marie
Welcome to the board. I'm a little over 3 1/2 years out and had problems up till about a year ago. Still have occasional issues in the bathroom but for the most part things are pretty good. I hope your symptoms get better over time.

    Hello, I just found this
Hello, I just found this site today. I found youre post and was reading it. I have the same thing happening to me. I had radiation treatments for anal cancer. My hip is giving me problems. My doc says its brusitis and did two treatments which did nothing. I cant lay on my right side at all. He said for me to go to an ortho doctor. I never would have thought about the radiation messing up my hip. Im sure thats what it is. They never listen to me. About like they did when I had anal cancer it took 10 times to the doctor before they would even acknowledge it. I am glad that I found other people out there like me going through the same things I am. I will be praying for you and a speedy healing!

Hi-Im glad you found this.I also never suspected radiation could do this.My radiologist never told me about possible side effects from radiation, and there are plenty. My hip replacement was 4 weeks ago and I am doing better every day.I no longer use a cane and walk fine.Amazingly i don't even limp..no one would ever know.I am going to physical therapy to work on range of motion.I still can't reach down to put my shoes on...but it will come.My journey with this hip problem actually wasn't too bad.I had the best surgeon and i see good results.Thank you all for your positive messages.Hugs ...alyse
